Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Freyja! Freyja is a beautiful German Shepherd with a friendly, loving personality that shines the moment you meet her. She’s social, affectionate, and always happy to make new friends!
This playful girl loves her toys and enjoys spending time playing, exploring, and staying active. Freyja is spayed and fully up to date on her DAPPV vaccine. She has also been dewormed and treated for fleas, so she’s healthy and ready to start her next chapter.
With her sweet nature, playful spirit, and loyal German Shepherd heart, Freyja would make a wonderful companion for an active and loving home. She’s ready to give lots of love to the family who chooses her 💛

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
