Obie and Whiskers's Story

Meet Obie & Whiskers! 🧡🖤🤍

Obie is a 14-week-old orange tabby male who arrived at the shelter as a stray on 12/10/25 when he was just 7 weeks old. He was placed into a foster home right away, where he’s been socialized with both people and other cats and kittens. Obie is a total sweetheart—very friendly, affectionate, and always happy to be around his humans.

Whiskers is a 14-week-old black and white female who came in as a stray on 12/13/25 at about 9 weeks old. She’s been fostered in the same loving home as Obie since her arrival. Whiskers is a bit more independent than Obie, but she’s still just as sweet and enjoys companionship on her own terms.

Obie and Whiskers get along well but are not particularly bonded, so they can be adopted separately or together—whatever works best for their future families. Both kittens are thriving in foster care and are now ready to find their forever homes!

More about this shelter

The Gloucester County Animal Shelter functions as an impoundment/adoption facility which temporarily houses lost, stray, unwanted or abandoned pets for the 24 municipalities in Gloucester County, until such time as they are reclaimed by their owner or adopted by a new family. The Shelter also provides a 24-hour emergency service for calls regarding animals that are sick, injured or posing an immediate threat to the public.

We have a very dedicated staff and volunteer core who work very hard to see that these homeless pets are given a second chance and placed in a proper homes. All animals are spayed/neutered at the time of their adoption and up to date on their age appropriate vaccinations, Heartworm tested (for dogs) or feline combination tested (for cats) and microchipped.
