My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Fennel — the spice you never think you need until it’s suddenly in everything and you’re like, “Wow… this improved my entire life.”

Fennel is equal parts flavor enhancer and emotional support garnish. She loves to play, bounce, and generally season the room with puppy enthusiasm… but the second you scoop her up? She instantly accepts her fate and melts into a cuddle like, “Yes. This is correct. Carry me like a precious herb.” Minimal protest. Maximum coziness. She’s that spice that sounds fancy but is actually just comforting. Not spicy-spicy. Not overwhelming. Just… warm, aromatic, and weirdly soothing in a way that makes you feel like everything’s going to be okay and dinner will be good tonight.

Meet Fennel — a 6-week-old, 10.9-lb female Pyr/Lab mix (based on mama Rosemary’s looks), and already the kind of girl who makes you feel like you’re under-qualified to be in her presence. She’s soft, happy, and has the confidence of someone who has literally never known a bad day in her life. Which tracks, because she was born in foster care after her very pregnant mom was pulled from the urgent list — so Fennel has been marinating in love since day one. Now, let’s talk genetics, because this is where Fennel turns into a full-time interactive guessing game. Mom weighs around 72 lbs. Fennel and her siblings, however, are built like they expect to grow into their paws. Based on current math, vibes, and pure speculation, we’re assuming Dad was not only very handsome but also possibly pony-adjacent. Will she land in the 60–70 lb range? Maybe. Will she completely ignore our predictions? Also possible. Either way, adopting Fennel means committing to a lifelong journey of breed-guessing, weight-guessing, and placing increasingly confident bets with your partner that you will absolutely lose. In short: Fennel is warm, comforting, a little mysterious, and guaranteed to improve your life in ways you didn’t know you were missing.

Around other dogs, Fennel takes a very polite but emotionally invested approach. She waits for the aunties to come by, watches them with intense focus, and radiates the energy of someone who is absolutely ready to join the group chat the second she’s invited. Kids? She’d probably be obsessed. Fennel gives strong “best friend to a small human” energy. The kind of puppy who would follow a kid around like a fuzzy assistant manager, fully committed to snacks, giggles, and whatever nonsense is happening at floor level that day. Cats? She hasn’t met one yet, but let’s be honest — if she did, she would absolutely have opinions. Not bad ones. Just… loud ones. There would be commentary. Possibly a TED Talk. No physical harm, just a lot of emotional processing out loud about the very weird looking dog.

Fennel thinks she’s the leader of the pack — or at least the official announcer. When feelings get big, she’s right there, offering commentary and making sure everyone knows something important is happening. She’s found her bark and, honestly, she’s pretty proud of it. Not in a bossy way… more in a “hello, excuse me, I have thoughts” kind of way. And yet, for all that confidence, she’s an absolute softie at heart. In the middle of play, you can scoop her up and she’ll immediately go limp and snuggly like, “Ah yes, this is also very nice.” No fuss, no fight — just instant cuddles and full acceptance of being loved. Energy-wise, she’s a happy 7 out of 10. She’s the perfect middle ground: enough spice to keep life interesting, but with an off switch that works.

Your mission — should you choose to accept it — is to raise Fennel into the kind of well-adjusted, polite, emotionally secure canine who makes your partner…who once said, “We are absolutely not getting another dog,” suddenly start buying matching collars and bragging about her to strangers. Fennel is not born knowing things. She does not arrive with a user manual. Potty training? That’s you. Also you. She needs to meet people, dogs, kids, weird noises, and any object that dares to move unexpectedly. Training is, once again, your department. Fennel is not studying. She is not preparing. She is a blank notebook with paws and feelings. A fuzzy little sponge ready to absorb whatever guidance you give her. With patience, consistency, and a sense of humor, she’ll grow into a confident, affectionate, well-adjusted dog who brings warmth, laughter, and just enough sass to keep life interesting.

So if you’re in the market for a puppy who doubles as a weighted blanket, an emotional support spice, and a future large-breed mystery with excellent cuddling credentials — Fennel is your girl. If you’re feeling emotionally compromised (as expected), the next step is to fill out an adoption applicationat https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it to her foster family. This is not optional. This is how the system works. No applications = no puppy. Important logistics, because Fennel runs a tight schedule: pickup will be in Broken Arrow, and she cannot go home until after February 24th. Please do not attempt to negotiate with her about this. She is firm, she is small, and she is unavailable until then.

Apply responsibly. Fennel is ready when you are. 🌿💚
