My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cayenne — the human-seeking, face-licking, personal-space-abolishing little spice packet you never knew you needed. If there is a person in the puppy room, Cayenne is on them. Not near them. Not politely adjacent. ON. THEM. Like Velcro. Like a scarf. Like she was lightly sprinkled on your lap and immediately activated. Cayenne is the kind of girl who believes affection should be boldly applied and generously seasoned. Kisses? Unlimited. Boundaries? Never heard of her. She comes in hot with love, enthusiasm, and the firm belief that if she isn’t touching you, something has gone terribly wrong in the universe. Cayenne isn’t just sweet — she’s sweet with a kick. The kind that makes your eyes water a little and your heart melt a lot. If you’re looking for a puppy who will gently respect boundaries… keep shopping. If you want a tiny firecracker who will spice up your life, your lap, and your face with kisses — Cayenne is already on her way to you.

Meet Cayenne — a 6-week-old, 10.6-lb female Pyr/Lab mix (based on mama Rosemary’s looks), and already living up to a name that suggests she might add a little kick to your life in the best way possible. Now let’s talk genetics, because Cayenne is part puppy, part mystery novel. Our breed guesses change daily, but given her size (and the impressive heft of her siblings), we’re fairly confident Dad was not only very handsome, but also hovering somewhere in the small pony weight class. Mom weighs around 72 lbs, so we’re estimating these pups will land in the 60–70ish lb range — but let’s be clear: we could be dead-on… or wildly incorrect. Either way, adopting Cayenne means committing to a lifelong hobby of guessing her ancestry, predicting her adult weight, and placing increasingly confident bets with your partner that neither of you will ever win. Cayenne came to us after her mom was rescued off the urgent list while heavily pregnant, so this girl was born safely in foster care and has known absolutely nothing but love, warmth, and people telling her how perfect she is since day one. And honestly? It shows. She’s happy, secure, and already walking through life like someone who assumes good things will keep happening to her.

Around other dogs, Cayenne is extremely enthusiastic about networking. Aside from her siblings and mom, she’s met the resident “aunties” — Flora and Tsu — through the puppy gate, where she responds with an impressive combination of kisses, dramatic whining, and body language that says, “Please let me in, I have love to give and zero personal boundaries.” On the rare occasions there’s been a jailbreak, Cayenne doesn’t hesitate. She leads the charge. First one out. Head of the greeting committee. Absolutely thrilled to meet everyone immediately. Cats? She hasn’t met one yet, but based on her personality, it would likely involve a lot of staring, tiny noises, and her trying to kiss them. Kids? She hasn’t been around any yet, but she gives very strong “I would adore them” energy. Expect gentle puppy curiosity, tiny finger nibbles, soft hair investigation, and lots of happy wiggling while she figures out how small humans work. She seems like the kind of puppy who would happily follow a kid around all day, sit through questionable hugs, and treat every interaction like it’s the best part of her day. Sweet, affectionate, and eager to be included — just with the normal puppy learning curve and a whole lot of heart.

Cayenne is one of the bigger puppies, and she carries herself like she knows it. If there is a human in the puppy room, congratulations — you are now her chosen activity. Toys are great, playtime is excellent, but people are the main event. She will climb on you, lean into you, and generally behave like she has decided this is a hands-on experience and you cannot opt out. She is also wildly affectionate. Kisses are her love language, and she delivers them generously. Unlike some of her siblings who occasionally miss their target and go straight for a nostril, Cayenne is surprisingly respectful with her face placement. Energy-wise, she’s a puppy 7, which is important to clarify. This is not an Aussie-level, “I need a job or I will dismantle your home” kind of 7. This is a plays-hard, loves-hard, then crashes dramatically kind of 7. Big bursts of enthusiasm, followed by long naps where she looks like she’s been powered down. Balanced. Manageable. Still very much a baby.

Your mission — should you choose to accept it — is to guide Cayenne into her destiny as a well-mannered, emotionally stable, confidently social dog who makes your partner…who once said “We are absolutely not getting another dog”…start car hunting so she can be more comfortable during road trips. Cayenne is brave, outgoing, and wildly people-oriented, but she still needs exposure to the world: strangers, kids, dogs, new places, odd sounds, and everyday objects that puppies inexplicably distrust — including rolling trash bins, suspicious shadows, and absolutely nothing at all. She currently believes everyone is her friend and every interaction should be immediate. Your job is to teach her that patience is a virtue and that not every greeting requires full-body enthusiasm. Training? Yep. All you. Cayenne is not secretly studying obedience in her free time. She is not reviewing flash cards. She is a blank notebook. A fluffy sponge. A puppy who will happily climb onto your lap for kisses while ignoring every concept you’re trying to teach her. Consistency, structure, and positive reinforcement will turn that affection and confidence into good manners. Cayenne is affectionate, people-loving, playful, and full of promise — the kind of puppy who bonds deeply, loves hard, and wants nothing more than to be included in everything you do. With guidance, patience, and a sense of humor, she’s going to grow into a big-hearted, well-rounded dog who brings warmth, laughter, and just the right amount of spice into your life.

If you’re in the market for a puppy who is affectionate, confident, people-obsessed, kiss-happy, and fully convinced that you are her favorite human after approximately 3.5 seconds, Cayenne would like to formally volunteer as your new best decision. If your heart is already compromised (understandable), you’ll need to fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it to her foster family. This is the part where you stop staring at the photos and take action. No application = no Cayenne. Logistics matter, even when emotions are high: pickup will be in Broken Arrow, and she cannot go home until after February 24th. Please do not attempt to negotiate earlier pickup times with her. She is firm on this. She has a calendar. She is unavailable until then.
