My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Juanita and here is a little more about me :

My Journey
I came into rescue with my siblings and was given the chance to leave my uncertain beginnings behind. Since moving indoors, I’ve been slowly discovering how nice a calm, predictable life can be. Each day brings a little more confidence as I learn that I’m safe and cared for.

My Social Life
Other cats: I do well with other cats, especially those who are gentle and respectful. I appreciate slow introductions and time to get my bearings in new spaces.
Dogs & kids: I haven’t spent much time around dogs or children yet, so a quieter home would be ideal while I continue building confidence.

My Personality
I’m a gentle, observant girl with a soft and sensitive nature. New situations can make me a bit reserved at first, but once I feel secure, I enjoy being close to my people and soaking up quiet affection. Consistency and patience help me shine.

I Enjoy…
Calm, cozy spaces where I can unwind
Soft pets once trust is established
Comfortable beds and hidden napping spots
Sitting nearby and peacefully keeping you company

I’m Not a Fan Of…
Fast-paced environments, loud sounds, or being pushed to interact before I’m ready. I do best when I’m allowed to move at my own pace.

What Makes Me Special
With my sleek, jet-black coat, striking golden-yellow eyes, and adorably oversized ears, I have a true mini-panther look. My expressive features give me an elegant, mysterious charm that’s impossible to forget once you’ve met me.

My Perfect Home
I’m looking for a patient, understanding home where I can continue to grow at my own speed. With time, kindness, and a little encouragement, I’ll blossom into a devoted and loving companion.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
