My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shadow (age 5) and Stitch (age 2) are what we lovingly call a “perfectly mismatched pair.” They may not be bonded in the traditional sense of sleeping curled up together every night, but they have formed a sweet and entertaining friendship. They groom each other often, play together, and clearly enjoy each other’s company while still respecting each other’s personal space. Think of them as best friends who hang out all the time… but still appreciate their own side of the couch.

Shadow was found on the streets and has made an incredible transformation since coming indoors. He has blossomed into a social, affectionate cat who truly loves being around people. Shadow will happily rub against your legs asking for pets and attention, and he has become quite the conversationalist. If you see Stitch start moving around the house, Shadow will often start talking as if he’s asking, “Wait… what are we doing now? Is there an adventure happening without me?”

Stitch, on the other hand, is a true gentle giant. He’s a big boy with an even bigger heart. Stitch is affectionate, playful, and wonderfully easygoing. He loves being around people and brings a calm, sweet presence to the home. Despite his size, he’s soft-natured and friendly, and he and Shadow have developed a lovely rhythm together.

Together they make a great team. They play, groom each other, and keep each other entertained, while still happily doing their own thing when the mood strikes. Their personalities complement each other beautifully. Stitch brings the gentle sweetness and playful curiosity, while Shadow brings the charm, chatter, and enthusiasm.

Both cats are affectionate with people and will happily greet you for pets and attention. Shadow especially enjoys interacting and chatting with his humans, while Stitch lives up to his reputation as a lovable gentle giant.

Because they have developed such a sweet friendship, we would love to see them adopted together into a home where they can continue enjoying each other’s company while sharing their personalities with their new family.

These handsome boys would thrive in a home with space to play, windows to watch the world go by, and humans who enjoy affectionate, interactive cats. With Shadow and Stitch around, you’ll have double the personalities, double the entertainment… and definitely double the love.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimates.

Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
