PUPPY ALERT: Meet Kona!
12 weeks old | Mixed breed | Female | 12 lbs
Straight from Georgia, this sweet little Kona is a total lover girl !! Kona is equal parts cuddly, girly princess & can hold her own hangin’ with her 3 very big foster brothers + 1 sister!
Kona is thriving Her confidence and independence grows every day!
Size: Kona is a petite girl with smaller paws, and will probably grow to 30-40 lbs. Her coloring is a really beautiful deep reddish brown that you can truly only appreciate in-person
Demeanor: Kona is sweet as can be, SUPER cuddly, and NOT a licker
She’s a VERY good girl, so sweet! Very smart! (and is good at tricking the other dogs ), she’s loyal, fun, a little mischievous and curious, and will be your little shadowShe’s finding her voice and is so proud of herself every day!
She spends half of her day quietly sleeping in my lap, keeping me company while I’m working at my desk (not a barker - so she’s Zoom approved!) And she’s grown so confident, she will periodically wander downstairs on her own to play + roughhouse (inside and outside) with the big boys. Then returns to my office for her little nap break
Kona acclimated to the snow immediately— doesn’t need me to go outside with her anymore — but her favorite place to hang out is on top of the floor heat vent.
Kona’s stats:
: Great with dogs - males & females all sizes and ages!
: Great with kids
: Unknown
: Miss Kona pretty much has potty training down — she’s mastered this skill with positive praise only! (Never needed treats to motivate/reward)
She whines by the door when it’s time to. And is very responsive to proactive asks to “go potty?”
: Kona loves to eat, and lovesss mini beef marrow bones & turkey tendon treats. She needs to work on her feeding time manners because she will walk right up to another dog and join them for breakfast (over their bowl!) or take a treat/bone right out of their mouth.
: She plays hard and is not afraid to try to steal the big dogs’ food / bones / toys right out of their mouth— she’s a riot! She runs around outside with her brothers + sister (no longer needs me to escort her!) plays tug of war & wrestles with them all!
: She loves long naps when she’s solo, but if the other dogs are active, she cannot allow herself to sleep and has to join in! She sleeps through the night well (easily from midnight - 6am) then goes outside for a quick potty break and comes back to bed til 8:30am!
Crate Training: Kona will need someone who is patient with crate training. She does NOT like to be left alone in her crate while you are out and about (even for just an hour!)
She is still adjusting to so much LIFE! and seems to get anxious / upset to go in her crate alone when I’m leaving the house (even for just an hour!) I think once she feels safe and secure in her new home, she will easily adjust. Especially with some positive reinforcement training — I highly suggest crating her for short periods of time (and rewarding w treats or kibble) while you/your family are home and just around the house doing chores or watching TV.
Little Kona has shown so much resilience and love and has really come into her own! This sweet girl is ready to start her new life with her forever fam! (48)
