Take the Pet Home
This helps Adopt Korean Rescue - Toronto with pet care costs.
JOY | 6-Year-Old Gentle Soul
Joy is a 6-year-old neutered male mixed breed (8kg / 36cm) with the softest heart and the calmest presence.
Rescue Story
Joy was rescued in 2022 as a stray suffering from a severe skin condition. After receiving treatment and proper care, he made a full recovery. He has now been living in a trainer’s foster home for the past 7 months.
His skin has completely healed, but due to the severity of his original condition, a small mark remains on the bridge of his nose — a quiet reminder of how far he has come.
Social with People
Joy may be slightly shy at first, but he quickly warms up — especially if treats are involved. After spending some time together, he allows petting even on the first day.
• Bonds more quickly with women at first
• Once bonded, comfortable with both men and women
• Currently very attached to the female caregiver he lives with
• Comfortable with children under 13
• Can be lifted comfortably
• Shows his belly and rubs his face affectionately once he trusts you
Joy is affectionate, gentle, and emotionally balanced.
Social with Other Dogs
Joy greets unfamiliar dogs with a wagging tail but is not the overly playful type.
• Neutral and polite with most dogs
• Prefers calm, easygoing companions
• Uncomfortable with high-energy or pushy dogs
• Avoids conflict even if another dog provokes him
• Generally enjoys resting on his own
He would do well as an only dog or with a calm, stable canine companion.
Cats
When separated by space, he may bark occasionally at cats, but during closer introductions he showed little interest.
Energy Level
Indoors, Joy has a low energy level and enjoys resting quietly. When his person comes home, he happily greets them with a wagging tail. Outside, he becomes slightly more animated but remains well-balanced.
Walks
Joy has good walking experience.
• Does not pull on the leash
• Walks calmly while sniffing
• Follows his handler well
• May pause to assess situations
• Occasionally trembles in very noisy environments
• Does not panic, bolt, or struggle even when nervous
He handles the world thoughtfully rather than reactively.
Additional Notes
• No food guarding with people or dogs
• No separation anxiety
• Rarely barks
• Gets in and out of the car on his own
• Sits calmly during car rides
• 100% outdoor potty trained
Joy is a calm, mature, and deeply sweet boy who would thrive in a peaceful home. After surviving hardship and healing fully, he is ready to offer steady companionship and quiet affection to a loving family.
