My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Velani is in NJ waiting for a foster or adopter

Meet Velani

This tiny chihuahua girl is as beautiful as her name! Velani came to us from a hoarding situation, and though her past wasn’t easy, she’s taking her first brave steps toward a brighter, love‑filled future.

She’s a little shy at first, but behind those soulful eyes is the sweetest, most gentle spirit. Once she feels safe, she absolutely melts in your arms — it’s where she feels most content and loved.

Velani has met her foster siblings (both dogs and a cat!) and handled it with quiet grace — she just prefers they give her a little space until she’s comfortable. After all, not everyone appreciates a bouncy nose right in their face!

We’re still getting to know this precious girl, but one thing is already clear: Velani’s heart is ready to heal with the help of someone kind and patient. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will forever be grateful for your love, this sweet soul might just be the one.

She will be up to date on vaccines. Wag On Inn will arrange for neuter at The Spay and Neuter Center of New Jersey in Holmdel. Adopters must live within driving distance of Holmdel, NJ. His adoption fee is $450.

Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training  prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.

Additional adoption info

We require an application. After reviewing the application, your home sounds suitable for the personality of the animal you are looking for, then a home check and a meeting is set up. For our rescue animals an adoption donation is required. All our rescue animals are up to date on shots, heartworm tested or on preventative, dewormed frontlined and have a microchip.

More about this rescue

Wag On Inn Rescue, A NJ recognized 501(C)3 organization, located in Freehold, NJ, is a small group of dedicated volunteers, trying to rehome dogs and cats. We have a variety of animals looking for their forever home. The animals are worked with individually to be socialized with other animals and with people. Some of the dogs are obedience trained and housebroken. Special care is also taken in working with animals on basic house manners. We have two types of ways we help the animals. One is our rescue program, where we pull animals from shelters and they stay with us until adopted, we also have a "referal program" where we help owners of pets try to find them new homes. with this program, the pets stay with their owners until a new home is found, and adopted from the owner.
