My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: 1988

Peanut is an older sweetheart. He is a 38 year old Goffins Cockatoo with a darling disposition. He loves to get kisses either on his head or beak, and is very easy-going for a cockatoo. He seeks out scratches and interaction, and warms up pretty quickly to those who are kind to him. He is friendly with nearly anyone who interacts with him.

He is still learning to step up, but loves to fly to his foster mom's shoulder. He is an excellent flyer. He loves to keep active climbing all around his cage and perches. He shows excitement by jumping up and down, and dances to music sometimes by doing the same. He doesn't seem to have any words, but makes some very endearing sounds when he's happy or showing affection. While he doesn't step up yet, when it's time to go to bed or into his cage, his foster mom just says to him to go there and he does without issue!

Peanut is by no means an incredibly loud bird, but can squawk when he wants attention. He has done fine sharing a room with another foster bird, but seems to prefer to be alone. He may do best in a family where he is the only bird, but as long as he has his own space, he could share a house with another. He had an all pellet diet when he came into his foster home, but seems open to a lot of vegetables, with a preference for steamed carrots.

Peanut has shown no aggression or concerning behaviors in his foster home, and would make a wonderful addition to the right family!

Peanut has been testing for Chlamydia and PBFD.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
