Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Lettie
Hi there everyone! My name is Lettie, also known as Mama. Back in November, I hitched a last-minute ride from Texas after my owner went into hospice care. When I arrived in Illinois, I gave my foster mom quite a surprise — I was pregnant! Fast forward nine weeks, and my babies are all happy, healthy, beautiful, and quickly being adopted into their forever homes. Now it’s my turn.
I am a young, smart dog who is potty trained and quick to learn. I’m comfortable with other dogs but can also entertain myself when needed. I am playful, loyal, and very dedicated to my humans. I enjoy playing with my foster dog siblings, school-age kids, and even the resident cats.
My foster family believes I may be a Lab/Husky mix. I am estimated to be between one and three years old and currently weigh about 40 pounds.
At night, I sleep through without issue on a comfy blanket on the floor. During the day, I enjoy having free roam of the house as long as I have enough toys and bones to keep me busy. I can be crated if needed, though I will let you know how I feel about it. I would love a yard where I can play and spend time outside, as I really enjoy being outdoors.
I’m ready for the next part of my journey and hope to find a forever family to call my own.
Adoption Information
Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450.
The adoption fee includes spay or neuter when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, current flea and tick prevention, and microchipping.
To ensure the best match for both our dogs and adopters, we require a fully completed adoption application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with the entire household. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed.
Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption and does not obligate you to adopt; it simply allows us to begin the review process.
To request an application or for additional details, please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org
.
Please note that the breeds and sizes listed in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to approve or decline any adoption application based on the best interest of the dog.

More about this rescue
We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.
The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.
Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.
While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.
We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
