Just an 11-year-old searching for his second chance. At ll-years-old. While that would seem very sad to most, Rango is trying to make the most of it. Rango just wants the softest possible place to land for the rest of his life. And it seems Rango is quite the optimist. It's been a tough break for Rango to lose it all this late in life, but he chooses to make the absolute most of it. You would never guess that he had ever had a bad day in his life. Rango will run right up to you, full speed, not to knock you down but to give you a great big hug - which is delightful except for the fact that he is covered in mud. We can't say exactly what breed Rango is - but we do know that he is straight out of a Disney movie. Charming personality, scruffy exterior but a heart of gold. He is getting a much-needed groom next week, and while we hate to see him lose his scruffiness, we can't wait to see his eyes for the first time ever. If you'd like to help an optimistic survivor finish the rest of his life, come meet our resident charmer. Rango does not disappoint and, at the very least, you will leave with a smile on your face. If all goes well and you decide to pursue adoption, you will be asked to complete a pre-adopt. Once your family, including any dogs, have also met with the dog you wish to adopt, your application will be submitted to the Adoption Committee for review. We estimate the pre-adoption process can take up to 14 days or longer.
Please note: AAS is committed to finding the best fit for each of our dogs. For this reason, we will accept multiple applications for a dog. In the case of multiple applications, we will select the applicant that is the best fit based on the needs of the dog.
Adoption fee for puppy/adult dogs is $300.00.
Adoption fee for senior dogs is $150.00.
Dogs qualify as a senior based on their stature/weight and age. The scale below shows the age at which a dog attains “senior” designation:
0-20 lbs: 11 years
21-50: 10 years
51-90: 8 years
91+: 7 years

The purpose of the Society shall be to provide to/and or for animals, other than man, shelter, medical aid, care and protection, to act as a placement agency for animals in good health, and to provide education for the humane care and treatment of animals, and to attempt to prevent cruelty to animals. We are a nonprofit organization that receives no funding from state or federal agencies. All of the funds required to maintain the shelter and care for the dogs come from donations and special fund-raising events. Donations to the shelter are tax deductible.
Our dogs are not euthanized for space. This means that new dogs can only be accepted by the shelter when we have an available kennel.
