Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bandit is searching for his forever home 💚🐾
This handsome boy is 1 year old and has the sweetest, happiest personality. Bandit is a fun-loving, playful pup who enjoys attention, making new friends, and being part of whatever is going on around him. He has great energy for adventures, walks, and playtime, but he also loves soaking up affection and spending time with his people.
Bandit is up to date on all core vaccines and is on monthly preventatives, so he is ready to go home with his new family. Bandit has tested Lyme positive. Many dogs live normal, happy lives with Lyme, and it is manageable with veterinary care. We are happy to discuss this with potential adopters.
He is at a wonderful age — still young, active, and eager to learn, but past the tiny puppy stage. Bandit would do great in a home that can give him love, guidance, and plenty of time to be part of the family. He is ready to give lots of love and loyalty to his future forever home.
If you think Bandit could be the perfect addition to your family, please message us to learn more or to set up a meet and greet. Let’s help this sweet boy find the loving home he deserves ❤️ Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
