My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Guinness! Like my namesake, I am heavy, dark, slow to settle and completely intoxicating.

I am overly affectionate when its on my terms. I am the very definition of calm, cool and collected.

It takes me a little while to settle into a new routine, but once I do, I will keep you accountable to every step!

I am not a huge fan of playing, but I do enjoy a swat or two as long as you will retrieve the toy afterwards. I am an old man and only run when I have to.

I am a quiet guy, I have a broken meow that sounds more rough than I mean it to. I am not overly chatty unless I want something or you are messing with my routine. Other than that, not a peep!

That being said, I am a world class napper, and I love everyone.

If you open your home and heart to me, I will do the same for you.

This feline participated in our Whiskers of Hope program.

Whiskers of Hope: Fostering Cats in Correctional Facilities, in partnership with Oak Park Heights Correctional Facility is designed to give cats a calm, consistent environment to decompress and receive one-on-one care and provide incarcerated individuals with emotional support, a sense of purpose, and the opportunity to give back by fostering animals in need.

Each participating individual lives in the mental health unit and has earned the opportunity to be part of this program through positive behavior, leadership, and responsibility. Cats live with their assigned caregiver in a private room, with access to shared enrichment spaces and regular oversight from both facility staff and our team.

Each cat receives daily enrichment, love, and individualized care. In turn, the program offers therapeutic benefits to the people involved and helps prepare each cat for a successful adoption.

Guinness is neutered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV negative, and up to date on vaccines.

Go meet their pets

While we are a foster-based animal rescue and all of our dogs are in foster care, we do have a cat adoption space at our new Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Don's Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.

More about this rescue

Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved.

In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on our Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt over 500 dogs and cats into the community every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.

CSHS focuses on serving and saving Minnesota pets, and we do not transport animals in from out of state. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout the state. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
