Fir is a grey and white munchkin male who is approximately 10 years old.
Meet Fir! Fir is just the sweetest little gentleman with the shortest legs, which makes him even more lovable. Even in his senior years, he still plays like a kitten at heart. His favourite toys are the big soft ones he can grab onto and happily kangaroo kick with his tiny legs. Add a little catnip and he is one happy boy!
Fir can be a bit shy when you first meet him and may take a little time to settle in. New environments can make him unsure at first, but patience truly pays off with this sweet boy. Once he feels safe and comfortable, he comes right out of his shell and shows you just how affectionate he really is. He absolutely adores head and chin scratches and will melt right into your hands, soaking up every bit of love.
As a munchkin mix, Fir does require some breed-specific management. He is considered brachycephalic, which means he can be more prone to ocular and nasal discharge. He may need his family to gently wipe and clean his face daily to keep him comfortable. Ongoing facial care will be an important and lifelong part of his routine.
Because of his short legs and unique build, Fir may also be more prone to developing osteoarthritis as he ages. Keeping him at a lean, healthy body weight is extremely important to help prevent long-term strain on his joints. Regular veterinary checkups and maintaining appropriate exercise will all play a role in keeping him comfortable and mobile. We strongly encourage adopters to discuss specific long-term care recommendations with their veterinarian to ensure Fir receives the best individualized plan.
Fir would thrive in a calm, committed home that understands his special care needs and is ready to provide a little extra daily maintenance in exchange for a whole lot of love. In return, he offers playful moments, gentle companionship, and the sweetest affection from a boy who simply wants to be cherished.
Fir would likely do well with another cat or dog friend with a proper and slow introduction.
Fir is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies. He is FIV and FeLV negative and on parasite preventions. His adoption fee is $300. To apply, please submit an adoption application.

Most of our cats live in foster homes. Some are available to meet at satellite locations such as Pet Valu and Ren's Depot. A few foster homes are available to meet and greets at their home, or we also do meet and greets at request at our shelter prior to adoption. Most of these results in same day adoptions, and only take place after an adoption interview.
