My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Charlie

2 years, neutered male, 14 lbs

Small breed wire-haired terrier mix

LIKES: Other dogs! Charlie loves to play with his other foster dog siblings. When he first came to his foster home he was extremely nervous and shut down, but after his foster dog siblings coaxed him out of his funk he was able to play and rough house. Now he loves tummy rubs from his foster family, following his people around the house, and doing zoomies around the yard.

DISLIKES: Jumping onto couches/beds/etc. Poor sweet Charlie has a history of a fractured pelvis from November 2025, so he prefers to jump onto things using steps. He walks/runs/jumps fine, but prefers his pet steps over jumping onto the couch/bed.

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Charlie is a nervous Nelly who needs several days to warm up to new surroundings. Other dogs help him with this issue, however for the first day or so he doesn’t want anyone or any animals around him. He will need someone willing to be patient and stay hands off until he is ready to be pet/held. Once Charlie warms up to his new surroundings he is cuddly with his people, playful with other dogs, and loves to chew his toys.

When he is first getting used to his surroundings he can be very difficult to recall or try to pickup, so a fully fenced yard, and patience, is needed.

Charlie can be reactive with new people, including young children, so a house with older kiddos who can give him space would be best.

POTTY TRAINING STATUS: Charlie is fully potty trained and will go to the door when he needs out and will easily come back in when he’s done as well.

CRATE TRAINING STATUS: He sometimes chooses to go hangout in his crate during the day, and seems to be fine sleeping in it at night.

To further inquire about CHARLIE, submit an application.

Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how CHARLIE will mesh with your lifestyle. Qualifying applicants will be contacted by our Adoption Coordinator with next steps and an opportunity to set up a Meet & Greet.

Our process is NOT a “first come, first served” process. (We DO NOT hold pets for later consideration.) Our team carefully reviews and interviews applicants for the best possible fit for each adoptable pet, and potential family. Submitting an application does not guarantee a call or response from our rescue. Our volunteers will screen the applications and reach out if it is determined to be a good fit.

We look forward to facilitating a positive and solid adoption for CHARLIE as well as his future family.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with an online application, submitted via our website. We do not guarantee a response, but will reach out if we think that it's a good fit and then arrange for a meet and greet. We do not hold dogs for more than 48 hours for a meet and greet, and if the dog is scheduled to go to an adoption event it will not be held back. We do not transport dogs out of area. We do same-day adoptions at our meet and greet appointments and adoption events. We offer a one-week trial period to our adopters to make sure that things work out, and we encourage adopters to be familiar with the 3-3-3 rule for dogs. We also highly encourage puppy classes for our puppies, as training is very important in ensuring that dogs stay in their forever homes.

All our dogs are in private foster homes prior to finding their forever homes. Please contact us if you see a dog you'd like to meet. To see multiple dogs, please check our website for our weekly adoption event times and locations.
