My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Soba is the social butterfly you’ve been looking for! This one-year-old beauty, with stunning black fur, blossoms into a confident, friendly girl once she’s settled into her new home. She’s comfortable around kids and totally unfazed by the dog in her foster home. Highly food-motivated (she proudly identifies as a “little piggy”), Soba can often be found hanging out near the kitchen or shadowing her humans in hopeful anticipation of a snack. If there’s food involved, she’s there. Front and centre. When she’s not searching for treats, Soba loves to get crafty. She discovered the craft drawer in her foster home and now considers pipe cleaners her personal treasure, which she’ll happily carry around like prized possessions. Pom poms, Nerf balls and the fishing rod with different lures? Also, top-tier entertainment. Soba tends to be more of a “near the action” kind of gal. She likes to supervise rather than steal the spotlight and isn’t quite a lap cat - yet! That said, she’s incredibly sweet and secure. She adores being groomed and will happily roll over for tummy rubs (yes, really!). Just watch out for a little static shock now and then - think of it as a tiny spark of love during cuddle time. She has impeccable litter habits, keeps her coat looking fabulous, and gets along great with other cats, dogs, and kids. Soba would love to be adopted with one of her siblings*: Mochi, Udon, or Dumpling.

Soba came to us with her three siblings from a home with too many cats. Now she’s ready to find her forever home at last.

If you’re looking for a sweet, quirky, low-drama companion who will keep you company in the kitchen and bring a little spark to your life, Soba is your girl. All she needs is love, belly rubs, and a steady supply of pipe cleaners and pom poms.

As we often receive numerous applications for each cat or kitten, we will only contact applicants who best suit the needs of the cat or kitten. For example, if it is stipulated that the cat needs another cat buddy at home and you do not have one, you may not receive a response. Finding the best home for our cat or kitten is our top priority. Applications are not first-come, first-served. *If certain cat names are not listed, it is because they have been adopted.

More about this rescue

Home at Last Rescue (HALR) is a Registered Canadian Charity, that is 100% volunteer driven. Our goal is to rescue cats from substandard living conditions and give them the loving homes they deserve.

We provide medical care, emotional support and a loving environment while preparing them to find their forever homes. With no physical location, all of our cats and kittens reside in loving foster homes across the Greater Toronto Area until they are ready for adoption.

We receive no government funding and rely solely on adoption fees, donations and our fundraising efforts to support our initiatives. We believe there is a home for every cat and a cat for every home.
