Meet the Cats of Gettysburg at the Kitty Corner by Forever Love Rescue
Meow meet Presley! Presley has been here far too long! Longer than the playful kittens who came in after him and left. Longer than the bold cats who pressed themselves against the kennel doors and were chosen first. Long enough to become part of the back ground. He is the sweet, gentle black and white boy you do not see. When the rescue doors open and the room fills with footsteps and voices, Presley disappears. While other cats call out for attention, he slips quietly into the cabinet beneath the kitchen sink. Sometimes he climbs up onto the pipes, quiet and still, just trying to feel safe. He has the run of the rescue, yet he is rarely seen when it’s open. Not because he doesn’t want love - but because the world feels too big and too loud for his tender heart. And so he waits….day after day…adoption event after adoption event. People come…people choose…people leave…but Presley stays. It’s easy to overlook the quiet ones. The ones who don’t demand. The ones who don’t climb into strangers arms. But if you slow down - if you come when it’s quiet - you’ll see him venture out. You’ll see him perched high on a cat tower like a black and white gargoyle, watching gently, cautiously, you’ll see the softness in him. When the room is still and he feels safe with those he trusts, he leans into gentle pets. He closes his eyes feeling the love. He loves treat time and spending time with the other cats. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Presley is not broken…he is overwhelmed. The rescue is simply too much for him. Too many sounds. Too much change. Too many people waking past without seeing the quiet boy under the sink. Imagine how long that feels - to be there everyday, watching others go home. To want love but to be too nervous and afraid to ask for it loudly. To be a quiet soul in a world that rewards boldness. He doesn’t need grand gestures. He needs a calm, quiet home. A patient heart. A soft place to land and time to realize he is safe. A place that will let him move at his pace and allow him to call the shots. Presley might never be a lap cat, he will hide when adopted and it will take time, a lot of time. He is not one that will ever be able to be picked up, as the fear of not being in control terrifies him. He needs someone that will see him for who he is and enjoy those simple signs of trust he will share - the first sight of him, the first time he gets close to you, the first time you reach your hand out for him to sniff, the first pets the list goes on. And when he does finally begin to settle in, and you see the love in his eyes - it will be the deepest, most meaningful bond. The kind built on trust, that feels earned. Presley has been unseen for too long. Please be the one who finally sees him and will give him all the time he needs to have a home.
