Story
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our pets based on personality, not breed label. Shep is a 5-year-old, neutered male, perhaps Basenji-Husky mix. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and Microchipped. Shep is most definitely not a Ridgeback. He has lived with Ridgebacks and is tolerant of their weirdness (at least weird to him). His bright blue eyes reflect a keen intelligence and a dash of mischief. Very high energy, strong curiosity and intense personality make for a dog that will never allow a dull moment in your life. Once he gets to know you, Shep is a very loving dog who is always ready for an ear scratch or belly rub. He can be overly protective of those people he considers his, especially when they are his source of treats and affection. Shep is quick to speak out in defense of his territory and all that he considers his. He needs an environment that provides structure and enforces limits on his enthusiasm without suppressing his spirit. If you like a challenge and a one-of-a-kind dog that will fill the time you give him with amusement, wonder and enrichment, as few other dogs could, then Shep is the dog for you. If you like to foster Shep or adopt him and provide a Forever Home for Shep, call or text Roy at 817-454-6023 or Miguel at 817-798-8416. With a moderate energy level (around a 3 indoors and up to a 7 when it’s time to play), Scooby loves to be active but also knows how to settle in for cuddles and quiet time with his people.   This handsome boy is incredibly devoted and forms strong bonds with the people he loves. He’s happiest close to his person, whether that means soaking up belly rubs, nudging you with his nose for attention, or curling up beside you for snuggles. Scooby is affectionate, loyal, and naturally watchful over his family in the sweetest way.   Scooby already knows basic commands including sit, down, and wait, and he enjoys learning new things, making him a great candidate for continued training. He’s smart, eager to please, and very responsive. Outdoors, his athletic side shines—he’s fast, agile, and loves to play fetch, chase toys, and stretch out in the sunshine. He especially enjoys playing with larger dogs and would likely enjoy a canine companion with a similar play style.   One of Scooby’s especially nice qualities is his calm nature during storms, something many families appreciate. While he enjoys activity and playtime, he also values comfort, affection, and simply being near his people.   Scooby would thrive in a home that can provide regular exercise, plenty of playtime, frequent potty breaks, and owners who are home much of the time. He’s looking for a forever family that wants both an adventure buddy and a devoted cuddle companion.   If you’re searching for a young dog who is loving, loyal, intelligent, and ready to become someone’s best friend, Scooby may be your perfect match. â¤ï¸   To set up an adoption meeting with Scooby please complete our application on the website below then   TEXT SARA:  214-549-9905   So I can check your application and get back to you!   www.dashdog.org General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city.
