Story
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our pets based on personality, not breed label. Shep is a 7-year-old, neutered male, perhaps Basenji-Husky mix. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and Microchipped. Shep is most definitely not a Ridgeback. He has lived with Ridgebacks and is tolerant of their weirdness (at least weird to him). His bright blue eyes reflect a keen intelligence and a dash of mischief. Very high energy, strong curiosity and intense personality make for a dog that will never allow a dull moment in your life. Once he gets to know you, Shep is a very loving dog who is always ready for an ear scratch or belly rub. He can be overly protective of those people he considers his, especially when they are his source of treats and affection. Shep is quick to speak out in defense of his territory and all that he considers his. He needs an environment that provides structure and enforces limits on his enthusiasm without suppressing his spirit. If you like a challenge and a one-of-a-kind dog that will fill the time you give him with amusement, wonder and enrichment, as few other dogs could, then Shep is the dog for you. Kramer is a distinguished senior gentleman, 14 years young. He qualifies for our senior discount adoption fee of $125. We think he may be a mix of Shiba Inu and Chihuahua, but that's just our best guess. He was living a perfectly happy and content life until his people became too ill to care for him. Humane Tomorrow promised to find him another forever home. He has settled into the routine at his foster home very well. Kramer loves his meal time, treats, nap time, car rides, snuggling, and evening walks. He is house and crate trained. He gets along with the cats in his foster home, but he mostly stays out of their way. Kramer would be an excellent only dog, but he may do fine with an older, laid back dog. He likes to snuggle on his own terms, but he not like to be picked up or held. Kramer qualifies for our senior discount fee, so please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Max is an 8-year-old, 18 lb Pomeranian/Shiba Inu mix. Breed mix is just our best guess. Max’s coat was in horrible shape when he first came, extremely filthy and matted. Foster mom bathed him several times, and the vet tech removed the mats at the same time he was neutered. Then, a professional groomer gave him another bath and shaped up his coat. Max is now a very clean and handsome boy! It is critical that his new owner provide the grooming care that his long, thick coat requires. Max has one ear that stands up and one ear that flops over, which just adds to his cuteness and charm. He doesn’t bark much but when he does, his bark is more of a honk (like a goose). Very cute! Max LOVES toys! He needs to have a toy to chew on that he can destroy. He’ll take his toy with him everywhere he goes (outside and inside). He needs to have toys available at all times, to keep him from chewing something he shouldn't. He is possessive of his toys (not food), just his beloved toys. Max loves to roam the yard and work the fence with the big dogs in his foster home, but he also loves being a lap dog and taking long naps. Max would do best in a quiet house where someone is around most of the time. In return, he will be the sweetest companion and lap dog. He attaches quickly to his primary care giver so a transition to a quiet house will be very smooth sailing. Max has heartworms because he was not kept on heartworm prevention. Humane Tomorrow will pay for his treatment with our partner vet. Please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.
