Story
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our pets based on personality, not breed label. Shep is a 5-year-old, neutered male, perhaps Basenji-Husky mix. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and Microchipped. Shep is most definitely not a Ridgeback. He has lived with Ridgebacks and is tolerant of their weirdness (at least weird to him). His bright blue eyes reflect a keen intelligence and a dash of mischief. Very high energy, strong curiosity and intense personality make for a dog that will never allow a dull moment in your life. Once he gets to know you, Shep is a very loving dog who is always ready for an ear scratch or belly rub. He can be overly protective of those people he considers his, especially when they are his source of treats and affection. Shep is quick to speak out in defense of his territory and all that he considers his. He needs an environment that provides structure and enforces limits on his enthusiasm without suppressing his spirit. If you like a challenge and a one-of-a-kind dog that will fill the time you give him with amusement, wonder and enrichment, as few other dogs could, then Shep is the dog for you. If you like to foster Shep or adopt him and provide a Forever Home for Shep, call or text Roy at 817-454-6023 or Miguel at 817-798-8416. Story
If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment to visit with this animal or multiple animals, please email us at info@animalhope.org or call 817‑984‑1129 between 12 pm and 6 pm.Squirrel is a 2‑year‑old Jindo mix weighing about 15 pounds, and he’s a spirited, energetic boy with a big personality. He’s one of our newer intakes, and so far we’ve learned that he’s smart, independent, and definitely has a stubborn streak. With the right adopter—someone who can provide structure, consistency, and outlets for his energy—Squirrel has the potential to thrive. We have not yet fully tested him around other dogs, but he walked past the lobby dogs on leash without issue. As we continue to get to know him, we’ll learn more about his social preferences. He was found as a stray, so we do not have background information on him, but our veterinary team noted no health concerns. His adoption fee is $300.Because we don’t observe our animals in home settings, we aren’t able to guarantee whether he is housebroken.Upon intake, every animal receives:Spay/neuter surgeryMicrochipAll age‑appropriate vaccinationsBlood and fecal testing (with treatment if needed)Flea, tick, and heartworm preventionA complimentary wellness exam 7–10 days after adoptionPlease note that adopters must be at least 21 years old and live within an hour of our facility. If you’d like to meet Squirrel, we’d be happy to help. He’s a lively, intelligent young dog who’s ready for an adopter who can match his energy and help him shine. 🐾✨
