Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Resident since August 2019Bucky is a happy dog who loves to play and run in the yard. He enjoys being out in the yard and rough-housing with dominant female dogs. When people play with him, he is best directed by treats.  Please check out his video below! He has a scar on his neck which shows us that at some point in his life he may have been abused. He is food assertive, so must be handled carefully when giving and taking food away. He would do best in an adult-only home with a dominant owner to keep him in line and model alpha, pack order.  Bucky is very cautious of new people and would be best to have a home with very low traffic. *****Special note about his video***** Bucky is a sweet playful dog, but he has anxiety about meeting new people. We believe that the best thing for Bucky is for a potential adopter to visit him at the shelter several times before trying to do an official meet and greet for adoption. We can set you up to observe him with others he already knows. Spending time with him during walks at the shelter and giving him treats will be the best way to his heart. This will take a little extra time and effort on your part, but it could be worth it for you. We have done this slow-meet technique with another one of our dogs who didn't make a good first impression, and it paid off for the family who adopted him! They are very grateful to have him in their family now. Please fill out an application to meet our awesome Bucky! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 4, 2023, 4:38 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Autumn is an approximately 1-year-old, 22-lb. beautiful lemon beagle mix. She came to the rescue from south Georgia where she was a stray in the countryside. She is very playful and loves toys and other dogs. She is currently living with several foster dog siblings of various ages and sizes. She loves to play tug of war with other dogs and chase balls. She is curious about the cats in her foster home but has not been close to them. Although we think she would not hurt a cat, we believe her excitement for them and desire to chase them would be too much. She is friendly and affectionate towards humans, but a little shy. She warms up quickly with positive interaction. Autumn is doing well with her potty training. She is let out frequently during the day. She sleeps well through the night in a dog bed near her foster mom. She does not wander around the house during the overnight hours. Like all young dogs, she has shown an interest in chewing on household items such as shoes, but is learning quickly when corrected. She enjoys going for walks with her foster dog siblings. She walks fairly well on a leash and with a little more practice she will do great. She loves to deeply sniff the ground and will give a beagle "aroo" when she smells something of interest.  She rides well in the car. We have not seen her around kids while in our rescue but we believe she would do fine. We would prefer a home where someone is home most of the time. Autumn would prefer to have another young, playful dog in the home. We are requiring a home with a secure fenced-in yard for her. If you live in the central Florida (Orlando) area and think you have the perfect active forever home for Autumn, we’d love to find out more about you. Please complete our adoption application and we’ll see if you’re Autumn's perfect match.  October 4, 2023, 5:44 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Duke is a very sweet dog, who needs a quiet household. It takes him a while to become acclimated to new people. He is currently in a foster home with a wonderful man who came to visit him here at the shelter multiple times to spend some time with him before he was ready to take him home. Duke is very happy in his home and loves to explore the yard. He has discovered that Duke does not like to be left alone for very long. He does not tear things up or destroy anything, he just gets nervous and shakes when he's alone for an extended period of time. We would like his permanent home to have someone home most of the time (work from home or retired) to keep him company during the day. Since he does not do well meeting new people he should not be walked in a busy community where strangers might want to come up and pet him. He will either need a backyard where he can safely run and play or live somewhere there is minimal walking traffic. Duke is a good dog and it is definitely worth the extra time it takes to get to know him :)  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 4, 2023, 4:38 pm
