Story
***Arlo is in a foster home, so he is not at the kennel. If you are interested in him, please fill out the application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** What a funny, low rider cutie! Arlo is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs 48 pounds. Meet Arlo, a loving and friendly young boy who is ready to find his forever family! This connecting and well-mannered boy is a true gentleman, always attentive and engaged with his people. Poor Arlo came to us heartworm positive, but luckily one on our wonderful fosters took him home so he could have a quiet, loving place to recover. Arlo is now done with his treatment, doing great and can’t wait to start his new life with a family to love him. He's an outgoing and affectionate soul who only wants to be with you. Arlo is seeking guidance and someone to help him build his confidence. He does have some observed food bowl guarding, so a leader to continue to work with him on this is a must. Arlo will also need a home where any children are at least 13 years old. He really is so sweet, you will for sure fall in love with him when you meet him. His foster mom has so many wonderful things to say about him: Arlo LOVES to cuddle! He will nudge your hand if you stop petting him, it is really cute. He also rides nicely in the car. He is strong on the leash though, so he needs a little work on that. Arlo is crate trained and very quiet while in it. He is house trained after giving him time to adjust, so he should pick up the routine in his new home pretty quickly. Arlo loves to stand on his hind legs, gives hugs and begs very politely as you can see in one of his pictures by the kitchen table, it is quite funny! The poor guy has gone through something traumatic in his life though and does not like any aggressive-like behavior/movement. He will definitely need a home where any children are calmer and more respectful, maybe not a busy home with a lot going on. If you are interested in Arlo and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!).
