He can come to NJ if we find a foster to save his life! Major is very friendly! He was found in rough shape with a flea allergy and hair loss but he is doing much better now. He loves people and did well meeting other dogs too. Major is fixed, microchipped and up to date on rabies, DHPP and Bordetella vaccines. He tested positive for heartworm so sweet Major needs a foster to save his life! Heartworm treatment includes 30 days of antibiotics plus two visits to see Dr. Behan at Barnegat Animal Clinic then 30 days of "light duty," no running, jumping or vigorous play. His adoption fee will be $450 if we can save him. How to Adopt Me! Rusty oh Rusty! What a hoot! One year old Rusty is believed to be a Basset/hound or a Basset/lab mix. You can see that his front legs turn out like a Basset hound. This little low rider loves everybody including cats and other dogs. He just loves everyone. Rusty ended up in a high kill shelter and the staff immediately fell in love with his gregarious personality. Children are his special buddies and frisbee playing is his athletic prowess. Rusty likes to snuggle with his humans and at night will sleep on his comfy dog bed next to his human’s bed. He seems to have an abundant amount of energy to be able to hike or take a romp at a dog park. All around he is a jewel of dog and would be a great addition to an active family. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Shortcake (GA) is a female Basset/Hound mix estimated to be 6 years old at the time of intake in July 2024. Shortcake is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped. She will be spayed prior to joining her forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Shortcake is good with people, other dogs and even cats. We don't know what Shortcake's life was like that landed her in a shelter suffering with some untreated medical issues. Fortunately, Shortcake was pulled out of the shelter so she could receive the medical care she required and when we received a request to provide that medical care to Shortcake, of course we said YES! Shortcake's medical issues have been treated and this adorable girl is ready to start her life over with her forever family. Shortcake is sweet (of course!). She is quite a chunky girl and is on a weight loss regimen. Her joints are a bit squeaky, but she's on an arthritis supplement as well. Shortcake is literally one of the easiest going dogs ever and even a little person could walk her easily! Shortcake is on a special food as she cannot have chicken. Hi! My name is Ellie and I am looking for a forever home. I was picked up as a stray by Animal Control and taken to a really scary place called a shelter. When no one came to claim me, I was placed on something bad called "the list"; fortunately for me, a BCAA volunteer had stopped by to pull some other dogs also on "the list", saw me looking up with sad, scared eyes and said she would take me, too ... yeah! I was so happy, I trotted out of that place with my tail up and a big smile on my face. I am about a year old so past all of that puppy foolishness, and I weigh just under 40lbs. I am probably a beagle-basset mix and am also what some folks call a "low-rider" since I have short legs and I'm close to the ground. It doesn't take me long to know I can trust you and I love getting attention (treats really help!). High energy dogs scare me but I've gotten along with the other calmer dogs I've met, and I haven't bothered those things called cats. I have done well in my crate without any accidents or tearing up of any bedding although I would really prefer to be out with you and will let you know not to forget about me if I see or hear you.
