Story
Ruger is a Bassett Hound mix. We are unsure of what he is mixed with. Ruger enjoys napping, running around outside, playing with his toys and most of all, snuggling with someone. He is a great fit for a family without young children as he is sometimes a food guarder and does not always like when you get too close to his food/bones. With just a little special attention to these needs, he is a really great dog that can get along with anybody who will give him attention! Ruger has been to dog parks and done well with other dogs but can be selective at times as he does like to be the alpha dog. He is very well house trained and has never chewed furniture or had accidents in the house. He enjoys being inside most of the time but if the weather is nice, he loves running around exploring in the backyard for hours. Tricks he knows: sit, shake, lay down and stay. We will not charge an adoption fee and he will come with his toys, bedding, kennels, leashes and collars, food and food containers

These pups are in Austin, Texas too!

Story
We don`t know much about Jethro`s history but we love what we see since we`ve met. He`s a very sweet, easy going guy and one of just a few `green dot` super easy leash walkers. Jethro loves walks and he`s not overly driven by his nose like many hounds might be. He doesn`t even get fazed by a squirrel standing a few feet away. He stays close to his person. He manages ramps and stairs as expected. He loves to receive gentle affections and a few treats too, but he`s not an attention seeker either.Jethro is a very nice blend of easy and comfortable canine companionship. He`s heart worm negative and neutered and ready to leave right away.If you have another resident dog at home though, ask for a meet and greet to be scheduled at the shelter.Jethro is advocated by his new shelter family and friends including ClassicCaninesATX who are helping make land bridges home for displaced mature pets that landed in the shelter due to life`s hardships.

Story
We think Byron is 11 years old. He belonged to a former Hound Rescue Board member who recently had to go into assisted living. He gets along very well with other dogs, loves people and is super playful for an 11 year old pup. He has the BEST bay and will do well in a home (not an apartment). He was recently diagnosed with Cushings disease which can be managed with medication.

Story
Maudie, Sasha and Buppy were all strays in a small parish in Louisiana. They came in at different times but we transported all together. Maude recently had spay surgery, so the pictures with a cone is just after that. Her foster says she seems to understand the phrase "let's go outside Her foster says that she must have been previously house-trained and crate-trained as she has had no accidents so far, but is not yet telling her when she needs outside. Her spay scar is healing well so her cone will get to come off soon enough. She has been a very calm dog and has not barked at all even for the doorbell or when the other dogs bark at the fence outside. She seems to actively enjoy listening to the birds outside and various other sounds. She does get excited at feeding time and is in progress of learning to sit calmly as her dinner is being prepared. She briefly watches tv when something catches her interest and doesn't hesitate to join the humans on the couch if she wants attention.
