Soulful-eyed Willy, a sweet 8-year-old, is on the shy side. However, with patience and love, he's already showing his gentle, affectionate nature. He would do best in a calm and quiet household where he can build confidence at his own pace. Willy is heartworm positive, and we'd love for him to begin treatment in the comfort of a foster or forever home. Utah Friends of Basset Hounds will cover all of his treatment costs—all Willy needs is someone willing to give him the safe, loving home he deserves while he heals.Willy is ready to share his big heart—and his big voice—with a family of his own.

Story
Trixie is a special needs basset. Rescued dogs frequently arrive with a lot of unanswered questions. We and our vets think Trixie was born with a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia or CH. A part of her brain did not fully develop leaving her with balance issues, difficulty judging distance, and clumsiness to the point where walking is really not an option for her. Even with all her challenges, she is able to get around the house and navigate a couple of steps. She can pretty much get anywhere she wants to go. After trying Trixie in both a 2- and 4-wheel cart, we have started to investigate a modified cart specifically for CH dogs. She is too wobbly to use the 2- and 4-wheel carts. Aside from this condition, Trixie is happy and healthy. She does great with other dogs (although she doesn't play) and is expected to have a normal lifespan. Our vet suggests that her coordination could benefit from some regular physical therapy. We plan to start that just after the first of the year when things slow down a bit. Meet Harley! This 1-year-old Basset Hound weighs about 45 pounds and is as sweet and talkative as they come. Harley is a professional snuggler but don't be fooled by his mellow side! He LOVES to play, does great at daycare, and would thrive in a home where he can enjoy both fun adventures and cozy downtime with his people.Harley has been through a lot and truly deserves his forever family. He tested positive for heartworm and has already received treatment, but unfortunately his case has been resistant and he'll need additional care. UFBH will cover the cost of all his ongoing treatment—all he needs is a loving home willing to manage it.Harley is waiting to share his big heart and lovely Bassety Bark with a family of his own.

Cash is a troubled young basset hound. In spite of his handsome exterior, he is full of issues. We're not sure what his background was like but he is reactive to any kind of discipline. He will require a very seasoned dog owner; a patient person to be able to safely handle this guy. He will need someone that can read his body language and respond accordingly. He can be sweet and loving or suddenly feel challenged and react with hostility. Absolutely NO CHILDREN.

And he’s so beautiful. So, be ready for everyone to stop and ask you about him.Itto is an exuberantly loving dog. He came to us from a high kill shelter where he beat all the odds to survive. He came with a torn ACL and is currently in recovery from surgery to repair it. He is hoping to be ready for his new family by Thanksgiving.Itto would be best in a home without cats and no children under 13.
