Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi, I'm Garbanzo! I'm a 3-year-old, 40-pound Basset Hound mix, and I'm looking for a loving home where I can relax and enjoy some cuddles. I'm crate trained, though I might whine for a few minutes before settling in. Once I get comfy, I'm good to go. I'm also potty and dog door trained.   I'm a calm and chill guy, and I'm great on a leash, so l'd love to go on some leisurely walks with you. Afterward, I'm totally up for a cozy nap. I'm good with other dogs and I get along well with kids over 8 years old. If you're looking for a sweet, low-energy companion who enjoys a good cuddle and a walk, then I think we'd make the perfect pair. Story
Trixie is a special needs basset. Rescued dogs frequently arrive with a lot of unanswered questions. We and our vets think Trixie was born with a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia or CH. A part of her brain did not fully develop leaving her with balance issues, difficulty judging distance, and clumsiness to the point where walking is really not an option for her. Even with all her challenges, she is able to get around the house and navigate a couple of steps. She can pretty much get anywhere she wants to go. After trying Trixie in both a 2- and 4-wheel cart, we have started to investigate a modified cart specifically for CH dogs. She is too wobbly to use the 2- and 4-wheel carts. Aside from this condition, Trixie is happy and healthy. She does great with other dogs (although she doesn't play) and is expected to have a normal lifespan. Our vet suggests that her coordination could benefit from some regular physical therapy. We plan to start that just after the first of the year when things slow down a bit. If you are interested in Trixie, please give UFBH a call and/or fill out the application and talk with us about her condition.

Story
There is no way to explain how wonderful this beautiful boy is; he's a perfect gentleman who makes lovely eye contact when you talk to him. A gentle soul who is cuddly and fun to be around. Chief tested heartworm positive and is currently being treated. We have successfully treated many Bassets who come into our care with heartworm. Heartworm is transmitted by mosquito bite and he is not contagious. Utah Friends of Basset Hounds will cover his medical expenses throughout his treatment.

Story
Lenny is one of two "Bagel" (Beagle/Basset mix) boys that came to us after being abandoned on the side of a road. A fellow rescuer saw him and his friend literally dumped out of a car in front of her. Both boys are safe and sound now and ready to meet their Forever Family. At first, we thought they were bonded but it turns out they don't actually like each other at all. Lenny is great with other dogs and people; charming and fun to have around!

Boone is such a Basset! Talk about personality; he's always wanting to know what's going on--with everyone! He's very ready to have someone teach him some “good dog" behavior. He is bonded to Myra and we are looking for a family to adopt and keep them together. They really do compliment each other quite nicely. We do require a fenced yard.
