Story
We are looking to find a new home for our 3-year-old male beagle, Milo. He is house-trained, high energy, and has a very typical beagle personality—curious, playful, and always eager to be active. Milo can be skittish at first and needs time to warm up in new situations, but once he’s comfortable, he is very affectionate and loyal. He would do best in a quiet home without children or other pets, or with someone who is experienced and understands slow, patient introductions. While he has been around other animals and has generally done well, he can become growly with large male dogs. We are rehoming him due to aggressive behavior toward our daughter, we want to make sure Milo is placed in a home that truly fits his needs. Milo is not neutered, is due for a vet checkup and vaccinations, and is a full beagle (no papers). We are simply looking for the right, experienced, and active person or family who can provide consistency, reassurance, and a safe environment.

Story
Introducing Roosevelt, a sturdy Beagle-Hound mix who is a bit larger in stature than his brother Grant, but has a heart that is just as soft. True to his namesake, Teddy, this Roosevelt believes in "walking softly"—he can be a little shy at first and takes his time getting to know new faces. However, once you win his trust, he’ll eagerly lean in for his favorite thing in the world: a good, long ear scratch. While he is a sweet and gentle soul who finds comfort in having a canine companion by his side, he does believe in a "Square Deal" when it comes to his belongings; he isn’t always the best at sharing his toys and prefers to keep his treasures to himself. Roosevelt is a loyal, quiet leader looking for a patient home where he can truly flourish and show off his affectionate side

Story
Meet Grant, a distinguished Beagle-Hound mix who truly lives up to his presidential namesake. Much like the 18th president, this Grant is a man of the people—he is incredibly social, thrives in the company of other dogs, and believes his "union" with his humans is the most important thing in the world. While he carries himself with a certain quiet dignity, he isn't afraid to address the nation (or at least the neighborhood) with a majestic howl whenever a siren rings out. After a long day of "campaigning" for treats and belly rubs, this sweet boy is just looking for a peaceful place to retire. Grant isn't asking for a monument; he’s just looking for a soft spot to land and a family to call his own.

Story
Meet Elizabeth (A564845) Elizabeth is a gentle, sweet girl who’s still learning that the world is a safe place. She can be a little shy at first and may scoot to the other side of her kennel when you go to get her, but slow movements, a calm voice, and a little patience go a long way with her. Once she realizes you’re a friend, she softens quickly and shows just how loving she really is.She’s a medium sized girl who may be a beagle mix, and she has tested well with male dogs. Elizabeth enjoys treats and quiet companionship, and she seems happiest when things are calm and predictable. She’s not looking to be the center of chaos, just someone’s steady, loyal sidekick. One important thing to know is that Elizabeth is a bit of an escape artist and can climb fences, so she will need supervision when outside or simply be leash walked to keep her safe. In return, she’ll give you gentle affection, grateful looks, and the kind of companionship that feels extra special because you earned her trust.Elizabeth doesn’t need much, just someone willing to take their time, give her the attention she deserves, and offer her a comfy bed to call her own. Come meet her and see if you’re the calm, loving home she’s been waiting for. Elizabeth is guesstimated to be 1 year old and weighs 40 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative.Ready to meet Elizabeth? Just stop by our shelter and head to our dog areas. You can find her in kennel D51. All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID.
