Story
Jud came to Crossville from a shelter in West Tennessee. He is a reserved gentleman who will require a patient human to allow him to come out of his shell at his own pace though. He will most likely need time to acclimate to life inside a home. He has just entered a foster home with an experienced Beagle couple, so we will have more to report on him before long. Have you ever met a beagle that wasn't sweet and fun though?5/16/26--UPDATE--Jud has been in our foster home for two weeks now. He is house trained in his foster home but may need watching while acuminating to a new home. He is quiet for a Beagle not barking at everything that moves. lol. He is not food motivated.which is unusual for a Beagle. The behaviors that are positives are he loves his large dog bed on the floor. He does not jump on people or furniture. He does not beg for food at the table. He loves his stuffed toys and cuddles with them at night. He likes other dogs, cats, children and women. He does back away from most men but shows no aggression. He is walked twice a day and we are working on his leash skills. He does get car sick at times so transport would not be an option. He also does not like being in a crate and will bark for quite a while if put in one. We have given him full run of our home with no problems. He is looking for a quiet home with a special person who will gain his trust. Once he is comfortable with his person and his home he will be the best boy ever!FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. Story
Our Lovable Zena found herself homeless after her owners had a baby and could not handle dog care with a new child. Zena was surrendered directly to our Connecticut Rescue, so she did not have to suffer through a shelter process. Now four years old, Zena is ready to begin her second act in life.  Zena appears shy at first, and had not benefited from much socializing or training In her former home. Some pups serve as placeholders in families until the human baby shows up, and then are cast off to fend for themselves in the rescue process. This sad situation left Zena lacking social skills. Zena needs an extremely dog savvy adopter willing to go slow with her and troubleshoot some stranger danger and touch sensitivity at the vet. Her best fit will be an active adult home, with folks who have rescue dog experience, and who understand that a period of decompression is needed as Zena transitions to a new home.  Zena has done extremely well with her training, and seems to enjoy the process. She now knows most basic commands. We recommend ongoing Obedience work to help her adopter bond, and also to provide mental and physical stimulation. Besides training exercises, Zena needs a few brisk leash walks daily to work out her yayas.  We suspected Zena to be a mix of Beagle and Pug, but when curiosity demanded that we run her DNA, we discovered that somebody had crossed her great grandparents with Rottweiler. Zena is a stout, medium sized dog at a lean weight of 30 pounds. She could easily gain 5 pounds and still be within normal weight range. The Rottie DNA no doubt is the source of her sass! Zena's house manners are good. She is house trained and crate trained, although adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health. Zena has been spayed and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.  If you are interested in Zena, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Cassie, a beagle mix, is one of over forty dogs rescued from a hoarding case in El Paso, AR. Despite entering our program as a shy girl, she has made great strides in just the last couple of months.  Cassie is very sweet and affectionate. She gravitate more towards women and likes children. She is a great couch potato in the house loves to lay around and cuddle…get her outside and she will run the yard like a greyhound!   She is doing really well…kennel trained, probably 90% potty trained we haven’t had an accident in like a week!  She gets along great with all the other dogs.  Cassie‘s a medium sized dog at under 30 pounds. Great size for an apartment or small house living. Local adoption fee for Cassie is $175. It is higher for New England based on the cost of transport and health certificate for interstate travel, so total cost is $400.  ##2763582##

Story
Please contact Mark (btfoha@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Adoption Donation $199    Located: New England Age: approx. 10 years old Weight: 40 lbs.   Louie, also known as Dre, was picked up as a stray in a local city, and no one came looking for him, which really is surprising because he is such a sweet guy with a beautiful temperament and coat and appears to have been well cared for and loved. He loves being outside, going for walks, playing fetch, squeaky toys and going for rides in the car. He is very much a lapdog and would love someone to be around more than not. He does have some old man lumps and bumps that the vets says are fatty tumors and not of concern. One is larger than the others but does not cause him any discomfort. Louie could stand to lose a few pounds and would benefit from regular exercise and a healthy diet. He is happy to be out of the shelter and in a foster home but would really love a family of his own again. This guy is a younger 10 year old that still has pep in his step and plenty of life left to live and love to give. He is doing great with the 5 year old boy in his foster home.    If you are interested in adopting Louie/Dre please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  btfoha@gmail.com  Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur.
