Story
Meet Gizmo! This Beagle – Bichon Frisé blend weighs 31 lbs and is 10 years old. Gizmo is one of the sweetest dogs his foster has ever met. General Behavior: Gizmo is pretty chill and just loves to hang out with his person. So far he loves everyone he meets. He LOVES when you hold his paw! He enjoys cuddling on his person’s lap and just being petted. He has spurts of energy for a few minutes and so far has only grabbed a couple of toys and a squishy ball to play with. He will throw a soft toy or ball up in the air, try to catch it, and then run around for a bit. Likes & Dislikes: Gizmo loves to sit outside, just watching anything that's going on. He is also a total foodie! He has eaten green beans, carrots, and strawberries.  Training:  Gizmo is a real gent! He is housetrained if let out regularly. He knows the command “sit." He walks well on a leash and loves to go for walks. He tolerates the car. He sleeps in a dog bed at night next to his foster’s bed. He likes to be close to his person. Medical: Gizmo takes apoquel for allergies (about $80 for 30 tablets), but other than that, he is a healthy boy who just needs his monthly flea and heartworm medications. Other Animals: Gizmo does well with other small dogs. He has a 8 lb foster brother and they get along great. His foster reckons that he likes having another pup around. He has not been observed around cats, but his foster thinks he’d be OK with them. Children: Gizmo has not been observed extensively around children. However, he has a fan club in the kids who wait for the school bus and who come over to pet him.   Home: Gizmo does have the deep beagle bark. He doesn’t bark as long as he can get to his people, but given the power of his bark, he would do best be in a single family home. Grooming: Gizmo will need regular brushing plus professional grooming about every 6-8 weeks. Luckily, he loves all the attention that comes with having his hair brushed! Overall: The person who adopts Gizmo is getting an outstanding dog! Is Gizmo the smart, snuggly, loving guy you’ve been looking for? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered, and he has just had his teeth cleaned. His adoption donation is $250. ##2144451##

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Pete. He is a 6-year-old, 42-lb. tricolor beagle. He has big, expressive brown eyes and long, floppy ears. His medium-sized, muscular body and wagging tail make him an adorable and sturdy companion. Pete is friendly, curious and affectionate. He has a lively and playful spirit but the hound in him can also be quite stubborn and determined, especially when following an interesting scent. He is intelligent and enjoys problem-solving activities. Pete loves to explore and go on walks, using his keen sense of smell to track scents. He enjoys playing with toilet paper rolls and toilet paper lol. He’s fond of belly rubs and cuddling with his favorite humans. Pete also loves to lie down and sit in high places where he can see everyone or look out the window. Pete is not fond of loud noises or sudden changes in his environment. Initially, he can be leery of strangers but warms up quickly with some gentle coaxing. Pete is good with children and gets along well with other dogs. He is wary of men at first but will give tons of love once he feels safe. It is unknown how he interacts with cats. Pete is a bit of a couch potato, loves snuggles and is a total sweetheart. He is looking for a family that will give him the love and attention he deserves. Pete is a very low-energy pup.    Up until Pete came into our rescue, he had not had a great life and his health was extremely neglected. He arrived to Lil Rascals with hair only on his feet. Many people would describe his skin "elephant skin." He was in pain and miserable. After 8 months of intensive care by our vet and his wonderful, loving foster family, Pete has regrown practically all of his hair back and is a new dog who feels good and looks great. But he doesn't have normal hair follicles and never will, so he will always need continued maintenance. Right now that's routine bathing 2-3x a week with a medicated shampoo. He will also need a regular Cytopoint injection for itching.   Whoever adopts Pete is a very blessed family. We are requiring a fenced-in yard for him to go out and explore and take his time to go potty. He does have some separation anxiety, so someone who is home most of the time and has other pets to keep him company is what is preferred for Pete. Someone with hound experience would be a bonus. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Pete, please complete an app and tell us more about your family. October 11, 2024, 12:05 pm
