Hello- my name is Bongo! I was rescued from a breeding facility for laboratories where I was kept in a cage. I am just now learning what being a dog is supposed to be about. I am still a bit shy, but have been making great progress! Another friendly/social dog in the home would be great, but not required. I am estimated to be 2-3yrs old and weigh about 25lbs. I will need help with potty and leash training. Zuma is a sweet, funny 10-year-old, 22-lb Beagle mix (about 50% Beagle, plus Chihuahua and Basset Hound) with an adorable low-rider build. He's in good health and has never had significant health problems. Zuma has lived successfully with multiple dogs, cats, and children. He especially loves other dogs and is usually curled up with one, so his ideal home must have a friendly, calm dog companion. He's quirky, affectionate with his people, and full of personality—a Beagle bark, anxious little-dog brain, and miniature Basset body! He's cautious with unfamiliar people and needs patient introductions. He barks at outside activity and is afraid of storms/fireworks. Zuma has occasionally nipped at unfamiliar men's ankles when frightened (never causing injury), so no babies/toddlers; older, dog-savvy children are fine. He'd thrive in a calm, predictable home that understands anxious dogs and will give him time to trust.
