Around here she is known as Pokey Oaky because she just likes to stand on you instead of lying down. She will stare into your soul and be obsessed with you for life. She has great energy and is extremely smart. She loves dog treat puzzles and playing fetch and tug of war. Oakley’s best friend in the world is Auggie the terrier pictured with her. He is also listed here, and they would love being adopted together if possible.

Lucky is a beautiful 6 month old beagle/husky/cattle dog/great pyrenees/golden retriever mix per DNA results. She is the sweetest puppy! She is very gentle and loves attention. She also enjoys watching TV with you! She is well trained and knows sit, down, heel, come and kennel. She will put herself in her kennel when told. She listens better than a child! She currently weighs 30lbs and is expected to be 50lbs fully grown. She is potty train except foe an occassional whoopsy. She does well with other dogs (she's a follower), cats (ignores them), and children. She will do best with children who are old enough to understand that she prefers space when eating. She has a history of gaurding her food bowl. She has worked with a professional and has shown huge improvement in this area. Lucky is a Gem of a pup! Super sweet, loving, and trained! Any family would be lucky to call Lucky theirs! Lucky is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is just $300.00. Meet Maggie! She is a real sweetheart and just wants love from everyone. Maggie is thought to be 6 years old, she was a stray so her age is a guess. Maggie came to us quite thin but looks great now and weighs 25 pounds. She is definitely a beagle but has a longer body so is likely mixed with bassett hound. Maggie is a calm and quiet girl. She does have the typical nose to the ground and is happiest sniffing around the fenced yard. Maggie co-exists fine with the other dogs in her foster home but doesn't interact with them, she seeks out the people. We have not had Maggie around cats. She does need some consistency to reinforce good potty habits. She is good in a kennel and good on a leash. Maggie is halfway through her heartworm treatment and is doing great. Adopter does need to be able to get her to our veterinarian in Peoria, IL to complete her treatment at the rescues expense. Delight has big brown eyes that will melt your heart and a delightful personality to go with them. She is a happy and sweet girl that likes to be with her people and cuddle next to them on the couch. She joyfully plays with toys, enjoys chew toys, and tummy rubs!  She is on medicine due to damaged caused by heartworms. However, she still enjoys a typical walk around the neighborhood. She has a tendency to dash at cars while on walks so her forever person would need to be able to handle that.  She would be the perfect dog for a person or couple looking for a lower-key companion to curl up this winter. We are looking for her to be the only dog in the home. Her adoption fee has been sponsored which means the adopter pays no fee. Rover was surrendered with his friend Liberty to a rural Illinois animal control. They are reported to be Basset Hound/Shepherd mixes. Rover appears to be a sweet and friendly guy that has good manners and walks well on a leash. He is estimated to be 2 years old and weighs 59 pounds. Sadly, upon intake, Liberty and Rover both tested heartworm positive so will need to undergo heartworm treatment prior to adoption. Preference will be given to families that adopt Liberty and Rover together. They arrived in late July and have an estimated 6-8 weeks of medical treatment ahead of them prior to being released for adoption. If you are interested in adopting them together and would be willing to foster them through treatment with the intent to adopt at the end of treatment, please apply at www.tapsshelter.org.

He's the king! This handsome guy is Elvis! He is an 8 year old basset hound mix that came to TAPS from Fulton county and immediately stole our hearts. Elvis found himself with Fulton County Humane Society after his owner passed away. He loves to play and run around with you! He loves getting lots of pets and going on long walks as well.
