Meet Holmes 🔎Alright beagle people, where are you all at?!? This handsome man Holmes is here at the shelter, and he has big opinions on it. Mostly, just mad that he cannot be outside running like a hooligan sniffing every new smell he can get his smelling nose on. If you’ve got experience with beagles, congrats, you know exactly what to expect from this little gentleman. He’s an energetic fella that seems to not have a stop button. He loves going outside on walks, though the thing he exercises the most on walks in his nose. Every couple steps he needs to stop and check things out. Take this guy camping or out on a nature hike and he will be the happiest boy for the whole day. This handsome mug is the exact image of what you would expect from a typical beagle. Loud, loyal, and way too smart for his own good. He’s a higher maintenance dog that needs lots of enrichment to keep him content, but if you’re able to do that? You won’t find a dog more loyal and rewarding. We estimate Holmes to be 4 years old. He has done well with other dogs we have introduced him to, though due to his breed and higher energy we have not tested him around cats, and we feel it best he not be in a home with any. He absolutely adores any person he has ever met, though he can be a bit jumpy so that is something to be aware of. He would benefit greatly from someone willing to work with him and train him, though with how smart he is, it likely wouldn’t take him long at all to pick up on things. He’s an incredible fella who is ready to meet his forever family. 🐾

🐾 BARNEY HAS ENTERED THE BUILDING! 🐾And if you’re a Beagle person… you already know. ❤️Barney is an approximately 2-year-old, 30-pound, tri-color Beagle who was found roaming as a stray. Nobody came looking for this handsome little guy, so Barney is officially looking forward—not back!At just 30 pounds, he’s the perfect compact adventure buddy. Beagles are famous for their curious noses, happy personalities, floppy ears, and their absolute determination to investigate every interesting smell the world has to offer. Barney is right on brand! He’s young, adorable, and just the right age to start building a life with his new person. Take him for walks. Let him sniff every blade of grass. Buy him the ridiculous treats. Give him a spot on the couch. And prepare yourself for those Beagle eyes to convince you that he has never been fed in his entire life. 😂Barney didn’t choose to become a stray, but he DOES get a chance to choose what comes next. And we think what comes next should be someone walking through Ark’s doors specifically asking for BARNEY.Come meet this little hound dog. At 30 pounds of Beagle perfection, we don’t think he should be waiting long. ❤️🐾

Loretta recently came to FDHS after her previous family could no longer care for her, and she’s ready to find a family who will show her the good life!Loretta is a friendly, affectionate girl who’s still working on perfecting her ladylike manners. With some patience, consistency, and guidance, we know this girl is going to flourish! True to her hound roots, Loretta has a bit of a chase instinct and would do best in a home without cats or other small critters. We were told she’s friendly with other dogs, too!If you’re looking for a sweet, silly hound girl with a whole lot of love to give, apply to adopt Loretta today!**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Story
Meet Woodstock a 1 1/2 year old beagle who came to us as a stray. Woodstock is ready to follow his nose to a better life! He is a typical beagle with his nose to the ground and kind to everyone and every thing he meets. Woodstock likes other dogs and cats! He is a little afraid of cats and it has us wondering if he has been hit before. Woodstock has us wondering if maybe he was used for hunting at one time but we cant be sure. If you take a look at Woodstock, you may notice his cherry eye, that red tissue in his eye. Our vet has assured us that his cherry eye isn’t causing him any pain or affecting his vision, so they recommended leaving it alone for now. Cherry eye surgery is invasive and not recommended to have done unless completely necessary as they can always grow back. His adopter will need to keep an eye on it, and this may need addressed later on in his life. Woodstock is neutered and ready to go! Come take a look at him and see if he would make a good fit for your family!Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at info@awlwarsaw.com if you have any questions about me! If not, stop by the shelter at 1048 S 325 E in Pierceton, IN 46562 to look at me! No appointments necessary!

Story
Hi, my name is Charlie. I'm a 4 year old, 48 pound beagle! I could stand to lose a few pounds, but I am solid! I was rescued from a place where I wasn't treated very good. A nice young lady contacted Project Hope to see if they would take me. Now I'm safe in my foster home and I'm ready to find my furever home where I will be treated good!My foster mom said I'm what you call a counter surfer, but I can't help it. It smelled so good, and I am a beagle with a good smeller, but I listen when she says off! I am very good when you are eating your meal. I just lay down and sleep until you are done eating!I get along with all dogs and cats. I would be good with children. I'm not a big barker. I like going for walks, and going for rides in the car. I do zoomies once in awhile, A fenced in yard is required since I like to follow my nose. I like being with my person and getting belly rubs and laying beside them when they watch TV. I don't like being crated, but I do settle down, but I'm good not being crated. I'm doing good on potty training. I'm neutered, microchipped, up to date on my vaccines and ready to find my forever home!My adoption fee is $300.00 If you have any questions not answered in this bio, email us at projecthoperescue@gmail.com.  To apply to adopt, please visit our website at www.projecthoperescue.org.September 12, 2026, 12:21 pm
