Story
Waylon 3 year old, male, beagle English bulldog mix. Smart, quiet for a beagle, loving with adults, too rough with children, treat and food obsessed. Must be kept on leash while outside (even in fenced in yards he finds a way out). Does not get along well with other animals because he does not know when to stop playing. Will do best in home as only pet with adults only

Story
Blue and Skeeter are wonderful eager to please velcro dogs. They would love nothing more than to spend the day curled up next to you or out exploring and being active. They have a lot of energy but are just as happy being couch potatoes. They are 7 year old Beagle terrier mixes who were found dumped together as puppies. Blue has been known to be too smart for his brother's own good and is good at distracting him to get the toy or person he wants. Skeeter is just happy to be around his brother and a person who will give him the most attention possible. They are very eager to please and love to learn, if it makes their people happy. Skeeter sometimes needs a bit of extra time to figure out new things, but he'll watch his brother and figure it out. They both need a bit of help learning how to be a dog again and that people come back. They are great boys and if someone is willing to help them learn they'll pick it up quick. They haven't been socialized in 3 years but previously went to doggy daycare. They needed a close eye but we're progressing at the time. They'd need some time before becoming another dogs friend. They haven't met any cats or young children before. They have the instincts of a hunting dog, usually happily retrieving live animals. They've met pet rats previously and gotten a bit too excited for their own good. They've been better with smaller dogs than larger dogs but living with other types of small animals would probably not be the best. Blue needs some help overcoming some resource guarding behavior but is a wonderful dog once he can be reassured there will always be enough for him from now on. These boys are full of love and life and would love nothing more than to have a good pawrent or family to share it with.     If you are interested in Skeeter and Blue please fill out an adoption application at:  https://www.dogsaredeservingrescue.com/adopt March 16, 2026, 1:21 pm

Story
Melvin is a 2 ½ – 3 y.o., 23 pound neutered Beagle who came to us after being rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case. It is reported that 43 beagles were discovered living together in a single garage. Their world had been small and crowded, filled with the sounds and smells of dozens of other dogs but not much else. Basically submissive, Melvin’s socialization is progressing well. Melvin volunteers for chin, head & belly rubs. His love for food & treats provides a path for trust & learning. Melvin’s housetraining is coming along nicely. He has become comfortable in the fenced yard of his foster home. Melvin is making sense of a new world. He finds being leashed foreign, but has learned to well on the leash. Despite his past, Melvin is resilient. Melvin is learning about safety, comfort, and companionship for the very first time. He loves exploring his foster home yard. Melvin is not for a first time owner as he needs a patient adopter who wants the satisfaction of developing the trust & teaching skills to an under socialized dog. Quick movements & loud noises startle Melvin so that he darts away. So no children under age 8 please. Melvin is a flight risk and requires extra care with secure handling. Patience will be needed when meeting new people or visiting new places. Melvin is neutered, heartworm & fecal tested negative. Melvin is up to date on vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm, flea & tick preventatives. Melvin’s adoption fee is $425. Once learning that home is safe, Melvin will become the most loyal, affectionate companions you could imagine. If your heart has room for a dog who’s never truly known what “home” & loving, accepting companionship feels like, Melvin might be for you. If you are interested in Melvin, please spend a few minutes looking over the Facebook page he shares with fellow hoarding survivor Eric (facebook.com/profile.php?id=61582810926636) or search on Eric & Melvin of Heather’s Foster Dogs. If you believe Melvin is for you, then click on Adoption Application in the menu at the top of the page to find our electronic application which serves as the basis of a conversation. Submit it & you will be contacted. We will make arrangements to meet with prospective adopters only after a submitted application has been reviewed & a phone conversation has taken place. Adopting a dog from a hoarding situation can be one of the most challenging — and rewarding — experiences in rescue. These dogs are learning about life from the ground up: hands can be gentle, food will always come, leashes can mean adventure, and people can be trusted. Everyday sights and may feel strange or scary at first. Progress can be slow, but watching them open up is nothing short of extraordinary. Please note that we are a foster based group located in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Our service area is the greater Chicago metropolitan area.

Story
This sweet little bundle of joy is approximately 9 weeks old and 5 lbs of pure personality. Ana may be tiny, but her spirit is BIG! She’s spunky, feisty, snuggly, playful, and incredibly smart. This clever girl is making great progress with potty training – she understands to go when she’s outside but hasn’t quite figured out how to ask to go out yet. Patience and encouragement will help her master this in no time. Ana is a total cuddle bug and a classic velcro dog – always wanting to be near her people. She sleeps well through the night and plays nicely with other dogs. She’s still learning how to walk on a leash but is giving it her all. And when she’s not getting her way? You might hear a little sassy bark! Ana will likely grow into a medium-sized dog with a big heart and even bigger personality. She would thrive in an active, loving home with patient humans who are excited to continue her training, play with her, and snuggle her close. If you’re looking for a fun, adaptable, and endlessly entertaining pup to join your family, Ana might just be your perfect match! Transport is an additional $185. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9
