Meet DanteDante is not the type of dog who will immediately seek out cuddles or attention — and she’s perfectly okay with that. She is a very independent girl who needs time, patience, and space in order to feel safe and comfortable. It can take months for Dante to fully settle into a new home and build trust with new people, but once she does, she can truly thrive in the right environment, and start to show her affectionate side. One of the most important things to know about Dante is that she is an experienced escape artist, even at her older age. She has escaped from previous homes and has also managed to get loose while out on walks. Because of this, a fully fenced and secure yard is absolutely required, and her adopter must always be extremely diligent with doors, gates, harnesses, and leashes. Dante is not searching for a busy social life or a constantly active environment. What she truly wants is stability, routine, and a home where she can feel secure. For the right person, helping Dante learn to trust and watching her grow comfortable can be an incredibly rewarding experience.

I'm Waylon, a 7-year-old Beagle/Blue Tick hound seeking a new home. I'm a very laid back, chill boy! I love men and women equally and have lived with cats and dogs. I'm fine in playgroups and on walks. I slept in the bed with my human. I like to hang out on the sofa with you, love car rides and I jump in the car easily. I'm good in the car, calmly sit in the back seat. I love to go for a nice sniff walk. I do not like to be crated, please. I'm totally house-trained and an easy keeper. I'M ALSO GREAT WITH CATS! I went to the beach with my foster family and I did great. I went into the water a few times, wasn't afraid of the waves. Not a fan of rain, though. The fireworks didn't bother me. Y’all…Butterscotch is sweet as pie and a perfectly squatty, slightly chunky little potato with the most incredible wrinkles you’ve ever seen. Seriously… forehead wrinkles, body wrinkles, all-the-time wrinkles. Add in her beautiful green eyes, adorable little white socks, and her golden glow, and you’ve got a total heart-stealer. She’s about 3 years old, and our best guess is a beagle/lab mix, but what we know for sure is that she’s 100% perfect. Butterscotch is a people girl through and through. She opens up quickly with new friends and is overflowing with affection. She loves being right next to her humans and is a bit of a Velcro dog, following you around, settling close by, and soaking up every bit of love you’re willing to give. Belly rubs are her absolute favorite activity (she will dramatically plop right over for them), and booty scratches are a close second! She arches her back and leans into them like a pro. She’s also happy to jump up for affection and will gladly tolerate being scooped up when needed. She’s responsive, checks in quickly, and doesn’t need much guidance, just gentle handling and calm movements, as she can flinch with sudden leash motions. She’s eager to please and enjoys going out with her people. With dogs, Butterscotch is currently more polite than playful. She can be a bit insecure at first, especially with higher-energy or pushy dogs, but she communicates clearly and appropriately when she needs space. She’s done best with calmer, respectful dogs and would be happiest with a low to medium-energy dog sibling who matches her vibe. With time and confidence, she may become more playful, but right now she prefers relaxed companionship and roaming together over roughhousing. Cats are a no for Butterscotch, they’re just a little too interesting for her. Butterscotch absolutely nailed her kid test! She was incredibly calm, gentle, and loving with the kiddos, showering them with sweet face kisses, happily sitting in their laps, and soaking up every bit of attention. Her favorite move? Flopping right over for belly rubs any chance she got and very politely demanding more the second you stopped. She was relaxed, affectionate, and completely comfortable, showing just how much she enjoys being around children. With her sweet nature and family-friendly heart, Butterscotch would make an amazing family dog who’s ready to love her people with her whole soul. Butterscotch would do well in either a house with a yard or an apartment. She may need a short adjustment period to fully settle in, but once she does, she blossoms into a loving, loyal little shadow who wants nothing more than to be near her people. Elmer is a sweet little Beagle that turned up stray and ended up in a county shelter in central Virginia. He's friendly and loves attention from new people. He did well with a much-needed bath and is looking healthy and happy again. Elmer is about 5 yrs ld and a smaller Beagle at aout 23 lbs. He'll be making the trip to Massachusetts in mid-June. Meet Tater - he's a sweet little lemon and white Beagle, about 2 yrs old and weighing about 25 lbs. Tater is a little tentative in new situations, but he warms up and interacts well with new people. Tater loves the company of other dogs and also did well on the cat test. He'll arrive in Massachusetts in late July.
