🐾 Meet Petey — 48 Pounds of Beagle Charm, Howls & Heart! 🐾 Petey is a 7-year-old Beagle who recently found himself looking for a new home after his beloved owner passed away. He’s understandably a little unsure about all these changes, but underneath the anxiety is a very sweet boy who really just wants some love, attention, and a person of his own again. ❤️ Petey can be a little shy when he first meets you, but give him a little time and he’s happy to make friends. He’s friendly with people, seems to be good with kids, and gets along well with other dogs. Cats, however, are not his thing. His Beagle brain is highly interested in rabbits and squirrels—and apparently they are to be chased immediately. 🐇🐿️ He seems to enjoy trips in the car, so much so that he’s been known to try and sneak into the garage when his human is leaving in an attempt to hitch a ride. He has even demonstrated that a vinyl fence is not necessarily the impenetrable fortress his humans assumed it was. So his new family will need to keep a close eye on this adventurous fellow and make sure doors, gates, and fences are secure. Petey does have some anxiety, so he’ll need a little patience and time to adjust to his new surroundings. He’s also apparently capable of producing an impressive amount of drool—there was so much outside his crate at one point that it looked like he had peed! 😂 And because he is, in fact, a Beagle, Petey would like to remind you that silence is not his strongest skill. He enjoys a good howl and is more than willing to provide the occasional Beagle soundtrack to your household. 🎶 Petey has experienced a heartbreaking loss, and what he needs now is someone willing to give him the time and reassurance to adjust to his new life. She is a very independent girl who needs time, patience, and space in order to feel safe and comfortable. It can take months for Dante to fully settle into a new home and build trust with new people, but once she does, she can truly thrive in the right environment, and start to show her affectionate side. One of the most important things to know about Dante is that she is an experienced escape artist, even at her older age. She has escaped from previous homes and has also managed to get loose while out on walks. Because of this, a fully fenced and secure yard is absolutely required, and her adopter must always be extremely diligent with doors, gates, harnesses, and leashes. Dante is not searching for a busy social life or a constantly active environment. What she truly wants is stability, routine, and a home where she can feel secure. Roughly 90% of our dogs are adopted prior to their transport up to MA and 10% are adopted locally.Meet Copper! Copper is approximately 9 years old, 22 lbs currently and he might some Beagle in his mix. He found himself at one of our partner shelters after being picked up as a stray. In his foster home, he is doing great with his house training, hasn`t had much experience with crate training yet, and walks well on leash. He could join households with kids and other dogs. He hasn`t been exposed to cats. No apartments, please!His foster says, `Copper is the most friendly and loving dog I have ever brought home! I have fostered many dogs over the years and he is very special. He loves absolutely everyone he meets (he thinks everyone is his best friend lol). He wants to lay in your lap and snuggle up to you. He would make a great therapy dog. He is still working on house training but has very few accidents. He gets along amazing with any dog he meets. He will sit for treats. He LOVES to sleep in the bed with you and snuggle up as close to you as he can get. He sleeps all through the night. I am going to miss him so so much when he leaves. Jimmy is one of two littermates who were an owner surrendered from someone who had them since birth. They are about 9 months old and weigh about 33 lbs. Mom was a Beagle and Dad was a hound or hound mix. We expect they'll have an adult weight of around 40 lbs. Bobby and Jimmy are sweet, engaging, playful puppies, with typical puppy energy. They love attention, although it may take them a few minutes to feel comfortable with new people. They can be vocal when excited. Jimmy is a little more outgoing and has arrived in Massachusetts. A trio of Beagle puppies will arrive in mid-September at about 14 weeks old. They are well socialized and love all the kids and adults they've met; they also get along with other dogs both big and small. They are currently almost housebroken using the doggie door at their foster home. Pru is the smallest at 9 lbs (as of the last week of August). Pru is the most playful and energetic - and sometimes mischievous. Piper likes to sing the song of her people; and Phoebe is just a sweet girl who goes along and gets along.
