Story
Dodger was recently surrendered to us from his family. They purchased him from a breeder as a puppy. They had him many years but then he became inconvenient when they decided to move. They gave him to their adult son and told him to "find him a new home". The son had big dogs who were bullying him and he did not know where to turn and so he came to us. We questioned about the cherry eyes. Cherry eye a condition where the nictitating membrane's tear gland, located in the third eyelid, prolapses and becomes visible, resembling a cherry for Dodger, both of his eyes are affected. We will look into the surgery his owner did not want to pay for. We also noticed an anal mass. When we questioned this, we were told, it started small but again, they did not want to pay for him to have it removed. I do not even know if it was evaluated but again, we will look into getting this done. Dodger acclimates fairly easy into a home. He likes toys and of course food. He is housetrained and learned a dog door rather quickly. Dodger is a senior. Adoption fee is 125 which helps cover all of the medical for all of the dogs in the rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and many have received further treatment for such conditions as lump removal, severe ear infections, dental cleanings, bloodwork, leg injuries, etc.. We do out of state adoptions but require a submitted application, a home visit (sometimes we cannot get this done and then we can not adopt), and the adopter must come to Las Vegas to meet the potential dog(s), possibly adopt, and then drive the dog back. Disclaimer: The SNBRF has the right to deny applications based on our adoption policies established for the consideration of the health, safety, and well-being of the dog. Beagles can have a lifespan of 15-18 years therefore beagles under 3 years of age will not be adopted to anyone over the age of 62. For more information or to submit an adoption application, please visit our website at http://www.southernnevadabeaglerescue.com . All our dogs are in foster homes so not all are available to attend all our park meetups. Our meetup group playdates allow you to socialize your beagle with his/her own breed at dog parks with large fenced areas where the beagles can run and play off-leash.
