Story
Meet Maple, a soulful beauty whose timid and bashful nature belies a heart full of sweetness and kindness. With her gentle demeanor and calm spirit, Maple is a testament to the power of softness in a world that often moves too fast. Her quiet presence is a soothing balm, making her the perfect companion for someone who appreciates the quieter moments in life. Maple's coat is as soft and silky as her personality, smartly complementing her elegant and distinguished appearance. She moves with a grace that's mesmerizing, carrying herself with an understated confidence that's truly captivating. Though cautious by nature, Maple has a secret: she comes alive in the company of other dogs. Watching her interact with her canine companions, you'll see a different side of her, one that's playful, joyful, and brimming with life. For Maple, the journey to trust and open up is one taken at her own pace, but it's a journey well worth embarking on. She seeks a patient and understanding partner in her adoptive family, someone who can provide the gentle encouragement she needs to blossom. In return, Maple offers an unspoken promise of unwavering loyalty, deep affection, and the kind of companionship that speaks directly to the soul. Adopting Maple means welcoming a creature of quiet grace into your home. It means understanding that beneath her shy exterior lies a spirit eager for connection, ready to experience the world in her own unique way. With time, patience, and love, Maple will not only find her place within your heart but will also fill your home with a profound sense of peace and a love that's as enduring as it is gentle. Maple is housetrained and walks well on a leash but is hesitant in new surroundings. She loves playing in the rain!  If you're looking for a companion who embodies the essence of kindness and tranquility, who asks for little more than to love and be loved in return, then Maple may just be the friend you've been waiting for. Together, you'll discover that the quiet moments often hold the greatest joy, and that a soft heart is a strength all its own. ##1981059##

Story
7 year-old Dallas was an owner surrender. Despite having heart worms and kneecaps that dislocate easily, Dallas is a lively boy who loves to run after toys that are thrown! Dallas is around 15+ inches tall and a 32 pounds. Dallas is house broken with the use of a dog door. He leaves things alone except the many toys he finds to paly with! He loves to play tug of war with his foster siblings as well as beagle style fetch…you throw it and then chase after him to get it back! Dallas is a sweet, loving boy who can be very loud and vocal when crated. Both heart worm injections and knee surgery would require crate rest for a month or more for this boy. We have decided to do slow kill treatment for the heart worms with a year’s supply of Advantage Multi. Dallas will also need joint meds to make life comfortable. HBHR will pay for knee surgery if needed down the road. Apply today to give this wonderful boy a second chance at the Good Life!

Story
Sissy is a sweet beagle mix who weighs around 20 pounds. This 1-year-old girl made her way to Houston from Arkansas to find herself a forever home. Sissy is housebroken with the use of a dog door. She has pretty good manners for a young beagle. She will occasionally chew on something she finds, but generally leaves things alone. She loves to play with the other dogs. She has no concept of how small she is. She will charge up a dirt hill and take on a hound that is 3 times her size! In her heart she knows that she is King of the Mountain! Sissy will need a home with a young canine buddy that loves to wrestle and play chase! Sissy is shy around people. She loves to cuddle and soak up some loving, but only on her terms! Sissy will be slow to trust but once you pass her test, she will shower you with affection! Please give this wonderful little girl a second chance!

Story
Charlie “Polo” is a 6 y/o boy whose owners needed to find him a new home. He is a chunky 30+ pounds on a 14 -inch frame. Polo tested positive for heart worms and has completed his month of Doxycycline and is in good general health. He will come with the remainder of a year’s supply of Advantage Multi to complete the slow kill treatment. Polo is crate trained and housebroken with or without a dog door. He has great house manner…his foster Mom says that he is perfect! Polo loves the yard and probably would like a playful companion but does well on his own or with a beagle who is just not interested in playing! Polo enjoys his walks and is looking forward to cooler weather so he can longer distance and work on getting some of his pounds off. Polo I just a sweet, well-mannered boy who would be perfect for any family…especially for a home with little or no experience with beagles. Polo will make a perfect Starter Dog! Apply today for your chance to make him a member of your family!

Story
Opie is a 9-year-old tricolor beagle boy who was surrendered to HBHR through no fault of his own. Life situations do change, and the dog doesn’t always fit in. One thing he was not missing in his former life was his kibble. Opie is on a weight loss plan to slim him down from his 37 lbs. Opie is a happy go lucky guy who loves to explore the backyard where all the great smells are. He also loves his people and a good cuddle. He can jump up on the furniture and beds but is good about getting down when you tell him to. He is potty trained with a dog door and sleeps quietly in his dog bed all night. Opie would be fine as an only dog if his family isn’t gone for excessive amounts of time. He is ready to give a lot of love and devotion to a lucky family.

Story
Howie, now called Barney (Barnold, The Barnacle, Barniferus, Barnaby, etc.) is a sweet 1 y/o Tree Walking Coon Hound. He was found in League City, TX at a tractor supply. He is looking for his forever home and comes with a few months of heartworm preventative. He is clear and free of heartworms, though! Barney’s manners are good, given he is still a puppy! He has learned the word “no” well, but is still a puppy, and is very food motivated. He does listen well, and he is very sweet with kids and other dogs. He has a beautiful hound bay and will bark at almost any new noise to make sure you are safe. Barney loves to play with other pups and would do best in a home where another younger hound could wear him out! He gets at least one walk a day, though normally two, and is very good on the leash. He does bark at other dogs and people out of excitement, but he is never aggressive toward them. Barney is a toy dog and can often be found at night tossing his toys into the air to entertain himself. He loves puzzle toys, and tug of war/Fetch. I often have to say, “he is just a boy!” because he acts so silly. He flops down on top of you, and just does not know how big he is, he is so snuggly, and really loves to be loved on by his person. Barney would make an excellent addition to your family, especially to wear out another pup! Apply today to make this lanky boy a part of your family! PS This boy can jump! He will need a tall fence in a secure yard to keep him from going on adventures.
