Story
Meet Bugs! Bugs is a shy guy who loves to be loved. He has met other dogs and cats and did OK but was generally nervous and tends to be timid around new pets or people. Because of this, he may prefer being in a quieter home with mellow companions or as a solo boy. He was around children in his previous home and did well with them. Bugs is easily scared by loud noises. He is kennel trained and is used to being in there at night or when home alone. He is also housetrained and will let you know when he needs to go outside by sitting by the door. He is also very smart and has already learned "sit," "stay," "shake," and "paw"! He's treat-motivated and loves to learn. Positive reinforcement goes a long way with this sweet boy. Bugs is known to be vocal and has a loud bark. But he doesn't mean anything by it! Bugs is a big tender soul, with a loud voice and a small presence. Bugs is still very much a puppy and has lots of energy to burn off. This young guy would love regular walks or other daily enrichment such as puzzle feeders or snuffle mats to make dinner time more stimulating! Could Bugs be your family's missing piece? Come meet this gentle soul today! *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling 320-252-0896. An adoption hold reserves available animals for one day after the animal is ready to be adopted. More than one adoption hold may be placed on an available animal and will be honored in the order they were received. Adoption holds are $25 plus tax, are non-refundable, non-transferable and not applied toward the adoption fee. **Minnesota sales tax and an administrative fee ($20 for cats/dogs and $10 for small animals) will be applied to all adoptions. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures, and general care of all shelter animals. Story
**Bear is available through our Adoption Ambassador Program and is not onsite at the shelter! Call 320-252-0896 to arrange a meet-and-greet** Meet Dr. Doctor—though his friends simply call him Bear! Bear is a sweet boy who may need a little time to warm up to new people, but once he gets comfortable, his happy and joyful personality shines through. He has been described as a confident dog who enjoys making the most of every day. He is lucky enough to be staying in a foster home, where he is doing just great with the resident dog. "He is such a sweetie towards me and protective of us and our home. He does this thing where he puts his head into you and then pushes against you. He loves to sleep with a human and doesn’t stir all night." He loves always being near his foster. As far as the cats in the foster home, Bear does like to chase them. Some of them hold their ground with him, but Bear might do best in a home without cats. Bear seems to be mostly housetrained, his foster reports, and he is responding well to training. He knows "sit" and is getting really skilled at waiting to eat until he's told "eat." In his previous home, Bear was comfortable both being kenneled and free-roaming in the house. He lived with children and did very well with them. As with any new pet, slow and proper introductions to new faces and places are always recommended to help everyone adjust successfully. Bear can be enthusiastic on leash and may pull during walks. If you're looking for a way to make walks more enjoyable, ask TCHS staff about the Emily Weiss Walkie available in our Re-Tail Shoppe. Consistent training and positive reinforcement can help Bear continue building good leash manners. If you're searching for a loyal companion with a big heart, a joyful spirit, and a name impressive enough to have earned two diplomas, Bear may be the perfect fit for your family! *Adoption Ambassador (AA) animals are available for adoption but reside in a TCHS foster home instead of in the shelter. Meet-and-greets are scheduled in a first-come, first-served manner. Adoption holds are NOT accepted on AA animals unless the potential adopter has already met the animal. If you are interested in meeting this AA pet, meet-and-greets may be scheduled by calling 320-252-0896. *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling 320-252-0896. Story
THIS ANIMAL HAS AN ADOPTION HOLD* Meet Duke! Duke came in with his friend, Diesel who has since been adopted. Duke has been a very sweet boy since coming in. He was used to spending most of the day outdoors with an invisible fence but had done well with potty training when inside for the night. It may take him some extra time to get the hang of things if going to a primarily indoor home. Duke has done well with visiting children but would often forget his size and bump into them, knocking the smaller kids down. A home with older kids may be preferred. He has not had the chance to interact with other animals besides Diesel but would get excited when seeing other dogs out and about. Slow and proper introductions are always recommended whenever introducing a new animal to the home. This sweet boy has a lot of energy and would love to go to a home that can work him out and help with leash training. He is treat-motivated, Milk-Bones being his favorite! Come meet this handsome man today! *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling (320) 252-0896.
