Story
Atlas is already neutered and READY TO GO HOME!!Atlas may be named after a titan who carried the weight of the world, but don't worry - this 1.5-year-old, 50 lb Doberman isn't looking for a Hercules. He just needs a kind human to help him navigate the world with patience, snacks, and squeaky toys. When Atlas hits the play yard, he comes in hot - think superhero landing, dramatic flair and all. But don't be fooled by the entrance - it's really Much Ado About Nothing. With a confident, chill, female playmate, he settles into his groove, tossing out play bows and his signature "Doberman teeth clacks" to kick off a good ol' fashioned game of chase. He's like a big, eager puppy learning the ropes of social life. Once he finds his rhythm, he's playful, goofy, and charmingly earnest. Just don't pair him with a bossy or grumpy dog - Atlas prefers his co-stars to be cool, calm, and collected. He's what's known as dog selective, so he'll need slow intros and thoughtful meetups if new dog friends are in the cards. For now, he might shine brightest as your one and only.Atlas is whip-smart, food-motivated, and ready to learn. With clear structure and a gentle hand, he'll reward you with loyalty that could hold up the sky.If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Atlas 256026".He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and already neutered. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: Black Brown Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 58.5 Age: 1yrs 10mths 3wks

Story
This pet was brought in as a stray and will NOT be available for adoption through our program. All stray animals brought in are posted on the gallery to hopefully be reunited with their families. Each pet is evaluated upon arrival, and throughout their stay, at the Animal Center and we do our best to place the animal in the setting most appropriate for them. Sometimes, they may be better served through one of our Transfer Partners due to the intervention needed, ongoing care required or a quieter setting for that individual. We want our animals to put their best paw forward. If you are a 501c3 rescue and are interested in partnering with WCAC to help this pet, and others, you can find more information on how to help at: https://www.wakegov.com/departments-government/animal-services/community-partners/transfer-program If this is your pet, please contact us immediately at AnimalCenter@wake.gov Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 26 Age: 0yrs 10mths 0wks

Story
Meet Derwood, a sweet and gentle 6-year-old who came in as a stray and was never reclaimed. This calm, beautiful boy is ready to be someone's loyal sidekick. He leans in for scratches, takes treats with the softest mouth, and loves nothing more than exploring new scents. Derwood gets excited when it's time to leave his kennel-he's eager for adventure-but once outside, he's wonderfully easy to walk. The only challenge comes when it's time to head back in; he'll politely (and hilariously) try to guide you in a different direction. With his charm and steady sweetness, Derwood is ready to brighten someone's life.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Derwood, 265567". Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: Black Weight: 65 Age: 6yrs 1mths 0wks
