Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Abby is a loving Rottweiler that is estimated to be 4 years old and weighs 65lbs. After a rough start in life, she is now looking for her forever home. Abby is loyal, loving, and eager to please. She is very food and treat motivated. She loves to work for her food! Abby enjoys her nosework training to enrich her life.   Abby is being fostered by an experienced dog person who has continued to work with her training and confidence. She is crate trained, leash trained and house broken. She enjoys a run in a fenced yard and ideally some additional walks during the day. She loves tossing a jolly ball with her person.   She has been crated for up to 4 hours.    Abby is currently living successfully with two male Rotties with low energy. She will not do well with high energy dogs and would do best as an only dog with an experienced, responsible owner. Having previous experience with a rottie would be beneficial.   Abby would not do well in a home with cats or with a first time dog owner.  Abby readily accepts all people - She loves belly rubs!  She has lived with kids and would be ok with older children 12+ that are able to respect boundaries. Could your home be the right fit for Abby?   She has come a long way from her miserable life before Best Friend Pet Adoption saved her.  Could you provide a wonderful life for Abby?  She will give you plenty of love in return.  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants ideally should  live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  For the right match for Abby, we will consider applicants who live further away if they are willing to travel to Cary to meet her.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ABBY? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Willow is an absolute sweetheart!  She loves other dogs and people.  She is housetrained and crate trained. She's a beautiful girl with a docked tail and longer fur. Her markings are stunning.  She has a slight limp but doesn't let it slow her down. Willow likes playing tug of war and with her favorite Teddy bear stuffy. She is starting to show interest in tennis balls too. Her temperament is absolutely perfect and she will be amazing given proper decompression time.   Willow is looking for a home with a dominant owner, someone a little more experienced with setting boundaries and sticking with them. Even a home with just one person as she seems to get attached easily and want to protect "her person". She is dog friendly and cat friendly though and would enjoy playtime with another furry friend.  Willow's foster is working on sit/stay commands with her. Willow can be a little stubborn, she identifies as a teenager trying to push boundaries at times. Willow enjoys car rides and is great in the back seat but once that car stops she wants to jump into your lap. She says, "No way are you leaving me in this car!" She wants her person to be where she is and will follow you around the house from room to room but her foster is teaching her that its ok to be alone at times. Willow needs a little crate time to have that "timeout" not as a punishment but as her safe place. She loves her crate and goes in easily. Willow is heartworm negative and up to date on all medical! She really likes her chicken flavored dog food, was not a fan of the duck. She has not missed many meals however as she is a hefty 78lbs and ready to give you all her loyalty and love! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 16, 2025, 7:59 am

Story
Rex is an excellent dog. He is affectionate and very good with kids. He is almost 2years old. He has only been around one other dog but they got along very well. Rex does jump up on people I am not going to lie about that I never trained him not to. He is very high energy. I am rehoming Rex because we don’t have a fenced in backyard and we don’t have the time to show him the love and care that he deserves.

Story
Mack is a gentle, old-soul gentleman who believes the best things in life are the quiet moments-a soft nuzzle, a peaceful walk, or a calm lean against a trusted human. He doesn't demand the spotlight or jump around; instead, he offers steady, loving companionship and a calming presence that makes any home feel a little warmer. In playgroup, Mack was respectful but a bit grumbly. As an older dog, his high-energy days are behind him. He can get a little squawky when other dogs bounce around too much, and his movements are slow and deliberate, suggesting his joints may ache. His pace is steady and measured, perfect for someone who appreciates a calm, predictable companion.Mack is looking for a patient, understanding human who can be his anchor-a person who will help him feel safe and secure in the world. He thrives on quiet connection, gentle walks, and the comfort of knowing he's loved. For someone seeking a loyal, affectionate, low-key companion, Mack is an absolute treasure.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject "Mack, 214258".He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Story
Atlas is already neutered and READY TO GO HOME!!Atlas may be named after a titan who carried the weight of the world, but don't worry - this 1.5-year-old, 50 lb Doberman isn't looking for a Hercules. He just needs a kind human to help him navigate the world with patience, snacks, and squeaky toys. When Atlas hits the play yard, he comes in hot - think superhero landing, dramatic flair and all. But don't be fooled by the entrance - it's really Much Ado About Nothing. With a confident, chill, female playmate, he settles into his groove, tossing out play bows and his signature "Doberman teeth clacks" to kick off a good ol' fashioned game of chase. He's like a big, eager puppy learning the ropes of social life. Once he finds his rhythm, he's playful, goofy, and charmingly earnest. Just don't pair him with a bossy or grumpy dog - Atlas prefers his co-stars to be cool, calm, and collected. He's what's known as dog selective, so he'll need slow intros and thoughtful meetups if new dog friends are in the cards. For now, he might shine brightest as your one and only.Atlas is whip-smart, food-motivated, and ready to learn. With clear structure and a gentle hand, he'll reward you with loyalty that could hold up the sky.If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Atlas 256026".He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and already neutered. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: Black Brown Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 54 Age: 1yrs 11mths 0wks
