Story
Rumi is a 6-week-old mixed-breed puppy with a tender heart and a strong start. Found without her mama at just one day old, she was bottle-fed and raised in rescue care, growing up surrounded by people and consistent love. She currently weighs around 5 pounds and is expected to mature into a medium-to-large adult. Rumi’s personality leans soft and soulful. She enjoys playing with toys and her siblings but often prefers quieter moments where she can observe, cuddle, or soak up attention. She’s people-oriented, affectionate, and has a calm presence that balances beautifully with normal puppy curiosity and energy. Her foster describes her as the kind of puppy who bonds deeply and enjoys being close to her humans. Like all young puppies, Rumi is still learning the basics. She is beginning early crate exposure and potty routines and will thrive in a home committed to continued positive training and socialization. Rumi would do well in a home that values connection, patience, and helping a puppy grow into a confident adult. If you’re looking for a loving puppy with a gentle nature and a big future ahead, Rumi is ready to start her next chapter with you.

Story
Rafe is a 6-week-old mixed-breed puppy who has already overcome a big beginning. Found without his mama at just one day old, he was bottle-fed and lovingly raised in rescue care. Today, he’s a happy, confident little guy who weighs about 5 pounds and is expected to grow into a medium to large adult. At home, Rafe is playful, curious, and social. He enjoys exploring his world, playing with toys, and engaging with people. Being hand-raised has made him very comfortable with human interaction, and he’s the type of puppy who likes to be involved in whatever is happening around him. His energy level is typical for a growing puppy—active and fun, with plenty of time needed for rest, routine, and structure. Like all young puppies, Rafe is still learning. He is beginning age-appropriate crate exposure and early potty habits, and his future family should be ready to continue positive-reinforcement training, socialization, and guidance as he grows. Rafe would do well in a home that’s prepared for a medium-to-large dog and excited to invest in raising a well-rounded companion. If you’re ready to give a puppy with a strong start and a bright future a loving home, Rafe is ready to meet you.

Story
Rusty is a 6-week-old mixed-breed puppy who has never let his early challenges slow him down. Orphaned at just one day old, he was bottle-fed and raised in rescue, growing into a confident, social, and affectionate little guy. He weighs about 5 pounds now and is expected to become a medium-to-large adult. Rusty brings the fun wherever he goes. He’s playful, silly, and loves engaging with toys, people, and his surroundings. He enjoys active play but also happily settles in for attention and snuggles once he’s worn himself out. Being hand-raised has made him very comfortable with people, and he thrives on interaction and enrichment. Rusty is still very much a puppy and will need continued guidance as he grows. He is starting age-appropriate crate exposure and potty routines, and his adopter should be ready for ongoing training, structure, and socialization. He would do best in a home that enjoys an active, engaging puppy and is prepared for the commitment of a medium-to-large dog. If you’re ready for a joyful companion who will keep you smiling as he grows, Rusty would love to meet you.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Abby is a 4-year-old, 65-lb Rottweiler with a loving and confident personality. She’s friendly and adores attention, especially belly rubs, and thrives when she has time to spend with her people. Abby has a moderate energy level—she loves carrying her Jolly Ball, chewing on Kongs, and enjoys daily walks. She can pull on leash at first but settles with proper exercise or longer walks. Abby is housebroken, crate trained, and mat/place trained, and is comfortable being alone for 4–5 hours during the day. She also does very well on long trips and during hotel stays, making her a great travel companion. While she is dog selective and takes time to warm up to new canine friends (she prefers low-energy dogs), she can do well in a home with a patient introduction process—or as the only dog. She hasn’t been around cats and does best with older children. Abby’s ideal home includes a fenced yard for safe play and enrichment, and an experienced adopter who will spend quality time training, playing nose work games, or just relaxing together. She’s confident, loves attention, and would make a devoted lap dog for the right person. If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate, and confident Rottweiler who’s ready to share love, fun, and adventures, Abby could be your perfect match! Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants ideally should  live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  For the right match for Abby, we will consider applicants who live further away if they are willing to travel to Cary to meet her.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ABBY? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Willow is an absolute sweetheart!  She loves other dogs and people.  She is housetrained and crate trained. She's a beautiful girl with a docked tail and longer fur. Her markings are stunning.  She has a slight limp but doesn't let it slow her down. Willow likes playing tug of war and with her favorite Teddy bear stuffy. She is starting to show interest in tennis balls too. Her temperament is absolutely perfect and she will be amazing given proper decompression time.   Willow is looking for a home with a dominant owner, someone a little more experienced with setting boundaries and sticking with them. Even a home with just one person as she seems to get attached easily and want to protect "her person". She is dog friendly and cat friendly though and would enjoy playtime with another furry friend.  Willow's foster is working on sit/stay commands with her. Willow can be a little stubborn, she identifies as a teenager trying to push boundaries at times. Willow enjoys car rides and is great in the back seat but once that car stops she wants to jump into your lap. She says, "No way are you leaving me in this car!" She wants her person to be where she is and will follow you around the house from room to room but her foster is teaching her that its ok to be alone at times. Willow needs a little crate time to have that "timeout" not as a punishment but as her safe place. She loves her crate and goes in easily. Willow is heartworm negative and up to date on all medical! She really likes her chicken flavored dog food, was not a fan of the duck. She has not missed many meals however as she is a hefty 78lbs and ready to give you all her loyalty and love! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 16, 2025, 7:59 am

Story
Meet Zion!Zion is a medium-sized, energetic Boxer/Staffy mix with a big personality and an even bigger love for life. He's playful, confident, and independent, with a fun-loving spirit that keeps things exciting around the house.Zion is both house-trained and crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and already knows several commands including sit, paw, down, and gentle. He's currently working on wait/stay and is eager to keep learning with a committed family. Like many young dogs, Zion is still polishing his manners and can be jumpy or mouthy when meeting new people, so a home without small children is best for him. Zion currently lives with elderly cats in his foster home and he tends to leave them alone. Slow introductions are always recommended when introducing to animals and humans. One of Zion's favorite things is tug-of-war, and he absolutely loves playing with his foster brother, Avery. He would thrive in a home with another playful, energetic dog who can match his enthusiasm. A home with a backyard-ideally fenced-is a must, as Zion loves to run, play, and burn off his energy.Zion's ideal family is active, patient, and committed to continuing his training, understanding that puppy tendencies don't disappear overnight. In return, they'll get a loyal, fun, and adventurous companion who's ready to go places and grow alongside them.If you're looking for a spirited, affectionate dog who's ready for his next chapter, Zion might just be your perfect match 🐶✨To inquire about Zion, please email his foster with the subject "Interest in Zion 264064" to wcacfosterfam24@gmail.com Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 43.5 Age: 1yrs 9mths 4wks

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Mack is a gentle, old-soul gentleman who believes the best things in life are the quiet moments-a soft nuzzle, a peaceful walk, or a calm lean against a trusted human. He doesn't demand the spotlight or jump around; instead, he offers steady, loving companionship and a calming presence that makes any home feel a little warmer. In playgroup, Mack was respectful but a bit grumbly. As an older dog, his high-energy days are behind him. He can get a little squawky when other dogs bounce around too much, and his movements are slow and deliberate, suggesting his joints may ache. His pace is steady and measured, perfect for someone who appreciates a calm, predictable companion.Mack is looking for a patient, understanding human who can be his anchor-a person who will help him feel safe and secure in the world. He thrives on quiet connection, gentle walks, and the comfort of knowing he's loved. For someone seeking a loyal, affectionate, low-key companion, Mack is an absolute treasure.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Story
Atlas is already neutered and READY TO GO HOME!!Atlas may be named after a titan who carried the weight of the world, but don't worry - this 1.5-year-old, 50 lb Doberman isn't looking for a Hercules. He just needs a kind human to help him navigate the world with patience, snacks, and squeaky toys. When Atlas hits the play yard, he comes in hot - think superhero landing, dramatic flair and all. But don't be fooled by the entrance - it's really Much Ado About Nothing. With a confident, chill, female playmate, he settles into his groove, tossing out play bows and his signature "Doberman teeth clacks" to kick off a good ol' fashioned game of chase. He's like a big, eager puppy learning the ropes of social life. Once he finds his rhythm, he's playful, goofy, and charmingly earnest. Just don't pair him with a bossy or grumpy dog - Atlas prefers his co-stars to be cool, calm, and collected. He's what's known as dog selective, so he'll need slow intros and thoughtful meetups if new dog friends are in the cards. For now, he might shine brightest as your one and only.Atlas is whip-smart, food-motivated, and ready to learn. With clear structure and a gentle hand, he'll reward you with loyalty that could hold up the sky.He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and already neutered. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: Black Brown Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 54 Age: 1yrs 11mths 2wks
