Story
Max (watch my video!) was at a distant overcrowded shelter for over a month when his time was up. He had no options left so we rescued him. All the volunteers adore him. Despite having no walks from his shelter kennel once out he is well behaved and great with other large dogs he met at the shelter and volunteers. He needs time to warm up and feel safe then cooperative loves treats and is lovable. Smart and gorgeous. Max did great during his transport car ride but once at a new place he was nervous and confused. Did take treats. Once he knows you he will be your best friend and bodyguard. Max will need an experienced guardian and a home with a yard. For now no kids. More info. to come as he relaxes and learns. 7/1/22: He is now doing great at his foster home with 2 other GSDs. With time he adjusted to new people at home. He is still leary of of strangers. Bonded to his foster mom. Loves his walks/hikes playing ball and relaxing at his foster home. 9/12/21: Sadly when his potential foster home and her 2 GSDs during their two meets her female GSD did not work out with him. The female is less tolerant of new dogs and wants to be the top dog. Max did great with her male dog and social. He loves treats snuggled being petted and enjoyed the attention. Need basic leash training. Poor Max will continue to board until we can find him an experienced foster home that will give him time to warm up and feel safe. Max is boarding until we can find him an experienced and dedicated foster home. Donations needed to help pay for his boarding. To date since 10/20/21 over $4000. 10/1/21: Our volunteers are visiting Max and taking him out for walks and play yard. Doing great and friendly with 2nd visit with female and male with yummy treats and turkey hot dogs. Max goes to male volunteer for hot dogs long walk and fine being petted. Max is a sweetie with people he knows and trust. Max would be a great hiking and home buddy.YouTube: https://youtu.be/veR-UfNMVfgApril 16, 2024, 1:30 am

Lyle was on the SASA PTS list Sat. 5/13 at 4:30 pm so we tagged him to save his life. He was a shelter staff favorite. Now we need a foster home for him ASAP as he is in emergency boarding. Lyle is a super dog and is people friendly. He loves to play then calms - and he loves his pets. He does need some basic training but he seems easy to train and he's a pleaser. He already has learned to sit and wait for treats only gently taking the treat after the release command. Lyle is very pretty and unique with one blue eye. Donations are appreciated to help us pay for his emergency boarding until we find him a foster home.April 16, 2024, 1:30 am

Story
Gorgeous Bear was on SASA PTS list Sat. 5/13 at 4:30 pm so we tagged him to save his life. Shelter favorite but they could not extend his time anymore due to being over-crowded with dogs. Now we need a foster home for ASAP. We will need to pay for emergency boarding for him until we can find him a foster home. He is super dog and people friendly. Sweetie. Loves attention exercise basic training and cuddly. Donations to help pay for his emergency boarding is greatly needed and appreciated. 6/2/23: Bear is doing great at this temp. foster home. He did great in car ride. Very happy loved being brushed watching for squirrels in yard and within a day he was normal calm and relaxes inside home. He's a sweetie. He is great with car rides when fh visits her mom and at dog parks. No cats. 7/25/23: Current schedule: 1/2 hour walk in the morning and the afternoon. Early evening he gets about 45 minutes at dog park to run and play. He eats his meals & sleeps great at night in his crate easily 9 hrs. He’s very food motivated & learns quickly when there are high-value treats. He enjoys being brushed. He seems fine with dremel tool nail trims. He’s tolerant of getting his teeth brushed- his back teeth are yellow but his front are white. He’s fine with checking his paws regularly for foxtails after walks. He’s very curious (not fearful at all) & likes to explore everything when he goes to a new environment. He loves squeaky toys but he destroys the squeak in them soon. He developed good impulse control with food & is much better waiting at doors/yd gates & crossing streets these days. He knows sit down wait (still working on stay for over a minute) drop it paw/shake bow lie down cover nose but his recall & heel are not good once outside of the yard. 50% of the time he will play fetch in my side yd but only for about 5x before it bores him. He’s much better at not pulling on his leash on walks but an alert person still needs to walk him as he’s highly reactive (barking jumping & pulling) when he sees squirrels or cats. If I can distract him with a high value treat before he’ll not react bad to dogs on walks. He will ignore my treats when it comes to squirrels & cats though. Not recommended for a cat household.April 16, 2024, 1:30 am
