Learn more hereKris is an 8-year-old, 70-pound sweetheart who may be a senior on paper, but he’s got the athleticism and enthusiasm of a younger dog. He’s playful and can catch a ball midair like an absolute champ. If fetch is your love language, Kris is already fluent! His foster family reports Kris is the definition of easy. He’s fully potty trained, relaxed, and happy to entertain himself with toys or settle in beside you once he’s had his fun. He has wonderful house manners and has an all-around good-natured temperament. He knows cues like sit, enjoys learning, and loves pleasing his people. He’s excellent on leash, making walks smooth and enjoyable. He’s curious and loves exploring, but always with a calm, steady energy. Kris was a family dog before arriving at the shelter, and you can feel how ready he is to be part of a home again. I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:1Anise is a 6-year-old shepherd/husky mix with a wise, gentle spirit and the sweetest smile. This lovely “old soul” is feeling a bit disoriented in the busy shelter, but when you talk to her softly, she offers perfect little sits and looks up at you with a grin that melts your heart. In her kennel she may do some classic husky-style vocalizing, but outside she shows her independent side—curious, alert, and ready to explore. She pulls some on leash, but she settles with guidance and is happiest when she has a calm, confident person to follow. Anise is polite and non-reactive when passing dogs, but she hasn’t quite learned the social skills for close interactions, so she’ll be most comfortable as a solo dog or with a very well-matched companion. With her sweetness, maturity, and resilience, Anise will thrive in a patient, breed-experienced home that understands her sensitive nature and gives her the stability she longs for. Jack is a super sweet big puppy looking for a forever home. Weighing in at around 85 lbs, Jack is a playful young guy. He would do best in an active home where he can be part of the family. He has lived successfully with young children, although he does take a second to warm up and feel comfortable. Jack does well with other dogs, but really loves his people more than anything. On a recent outing, volunteers reported back: “Jack joined our dogs on an evening walk and did very well. He rode calmly in the car and hopped right in without hesitation. On the trail, he greeted other dogs politely and enjoyed exploring the sights and smells. While Jack does pull on leash, he remained friendly and engaged throughout the outing. With his sweet nature and adventurous spirit, Jack would thrive in a variety of settings—from park strolls to outdoor dining.” Let’s make plans to meet by filling out a questionnaire!
