Story
Max (watch my video!) was at a distant overcrowded shelter for over a month when his time was up. He had no options left so we rescued him. All the volunteers adore him. Despite having no walks from his shelter kennel once out he is well behaved and great with other large dogs he met at the shelter and volunteers. He needs time to warm up and feel safe then cooperative loves treats and is lovable. Smart and gorgeous. Max did great during his transport car ride but once at a new place he was nervous and confused. Did take treats. Once he knows you he will be your best friend and bodyguard. Max will need an experienced guardian and a home with a yard. For now no kids. More info. to come as he relaxes and learns. 7/1/22: He is now doing great at his foster home with 2 other GSDs. With time he adjusted to new people at home. He is still leary of of strangers. Bonded to his foster mom. Loves his walks/hikes playing ball and relaxing at his foster home. 9/12/21: Sadly when his potential foster home and her 2 GSDs during their two meets her female GSD did not work out with him. The female is less tolerant of new dogs and wants to be the top dog. Max did great with her male dog and social. He loves treats snuggled being petted and enjoyed the attention. Need basic leash training. Poor Max will continue to board until we can find him an experienced foster home that will give him time to warm up and feel safe. Max is boarding until we can find him an experienced and dedicated foster home. Donations needed to help pay for his boarding. To date since 10/20/21 over $4000. 10/1/21: Our volunteers are visiting Max and taking him out for walks and play yard. Doing great and friendly with 2nd visit with female and male with yummy treats and turkey hot dogs. Max goes to male volunteer for hot dogs long walk and fine being petted. Max is a sweetie with people he knows and trust. Max would be a great hiking and home buddy.YouTube: https://youtu.be/veR-UfNMVfgNovember 4, 2024, 2:12 pm

Story
Hansel was rescued from a distant shelter. He has been neglected yet he is very sweet warms up then friendly and cuddles when being carried. Huge thanks to Tama Veterinary Hospital for squeezing him in on the day we rescued him. He was loaded with fleas and had to have capstar to kill all the fleas and has pot belly from worms. Hansel got exam stool test Drontal plus (dewormer) rabies and microchip. Ear infection was cleaned with 2 week ear meds packed in. His foster home had to bath him right away to get rid of the fleas and dirt. Poor Hansel is so young but was neglected with poor diet fleas and worms thus dull coat. He will get extra TLC have dog playmates and get healthy soon at his HERO Foster Home that WFH. Fh cooks home-made foods to add to meals. Onward now to a great happy and spoiled life. 9/30/23 update from his Foster Home: He will try anything without fear as long as he knows I am nearby to keep him safe. He fetches a ball and returns it. His recall is excellent. He is doing very well on a leash. Loves playing in water. Gusto followed his dog buddies right into the water and started swimming. He is very motivated to play with other dogs once introduced properly. Fine with her cat. He is getting lots of socialization opportunities. He is active and need daily brisk long walks and jogs. Foster home thinks he may need active guardians for K9 work or dog sports. Very intelligent curious receptive and high energy. He goes on one leash walk and two off leash walks/hikes per day. No kids because he will chase them. Update: Hansel needs to stay on leash to learn not to want to chase after runners cars or bikes. This is common for some young teens if not trained to ignore. Need one on one training to train impulse control and recall. He will work with a trainer soon for loose leash training. From our GSD experienced volunteers and what we have seen he seems to be a normal smart GSD teen energy but does need active and experienced guardian for daily exercise someone home and focus on one on one training and classes. Dog sports is always fun and great for young dogs. Need to train for recall and other commands. Loves playing with other dogs.November 4, 2024, 2:12 pm

He loves to play then calms and lounges. He loves hanging out and playing with other dogs. He has learned basic training and easy to train. He's a pleaser. He already has learned to sit and wait for treats only gently taking the treat after the release command. Riley is very pretty and unique with one blue eye. Donations are appreciated to help us pay for his emergency boarding until we find him a foster home. 2/14/25 update. Riley is finally in a foster home. Doing great and loves following their other dogs. He loves parks and going hiking. He would do best in a home with another dog buddy but doing fine in a foster home now as only dog that has WFH guardian. Now he is learning happy and healthy. His coat is better and softer. Eating healthier and fresh foods which makes a huge difference. He is house trained and crate trained. Christmas family. Adorable Charity Noelle and Jingle were dumped in the back of a store. So much for the Christmas spirit of kindness. They were cold covered in dirt and nervous and the shelter took them in. We rescued them from the distant shelter. The two females are more out-going. Noelle seems to be the top puppy. Both are doing great got baths lovable playful and now very happy at their foster home. More info. to come as they grow and learn. Pups are not available til after 8 weeks old and they get their vet care. They most likely will grow up to be large adults. Best they get a home with a fenced backyard and active guardian for daily long walks and exercise. Update: Both pups are doing great at their foster home. Noelle needs a new experienced foster home due to long vacations. Learning quick. Smart and playful. Both are learning to go out to yard for potty time and learning to take turns for attention. Both are friendly and social. Been meeting many new people who visit during the Christmas break. They are curious of new sounds and sights and comfortable. Smart pups. Need experienced guardian. Her personality (sensitive) and some body structure/movement has some Great Dane mix qualities but she is not as large. She needs time to warm up to new people and then affectionate. Well behaved at home. Loves going on walks and hikes. Loves playing ball. Once she meets a dog she wants to play. Noelle is too nervous to live with young children. 1/26/25 Update: Noelle is good with foster home's cat. Sometimes Noelle wants to play though... cat doesn't.January 27, 2025, 12:34 am

Meet Raye – Your Next Loyal Companion!Say hello to Raye, a stunning 2-year-old German Shepherd with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. This sweet girl may start off a bit shy, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her playful personality truly shines. Raye is affectionate, loves a good belly rub, and will happily bounce from person to person soaking up attention. She’s already nailed a solid “sit” and is eager to keep learning.Raye is still discovering the world and will thrive with a patient, understanding family who can help her continue to build confidence. She responds gently around food and shows no signs of food aggression. Loud or unexpected noises (like game show theme songs!) might make her pause, but she’s getting braver every day with a calm environment and a consistent routine. One of Raye’s favorite things? Other dogs! She does especially well with large dogs and would be happiest in a home with a confident canine buddy to show her the ropes and share in the fun.If you’re looking for a devoted, loving companion who just needs a little encouragement to blossom, Raye might be the perfect match. She’s ready for her fresh start—could that be with you?

Story
💔 A Loyal Heart Looking for Her Forever Home 💔 This beautiful 7-year-old German Shepherd girl has spent her life as a cherished indoor companion, and now she’s hoping for a second chance at the forever home she deserves. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, house-trained, and has wonderful manners in the home. She is a loving, playful, and deeply loyal soul who forms strong bonds with her people and thrives on affection and companionship. She enjoys playtime but is just as happy relaxing nearby, soaking up love. She has lived primarily with adults and has had limited exposure to children, which she handled well. She has not had much interaction with other dogs, so her compatibility is currently unknown. Because of this, she would do best in a calm, patient home, ideally with adults or older, respectful children. She does have a wheat allergy and does very well on a grain-free diet, which has been easy to maintain and keeps her healthy and happy. This sweet girl isn’t asking for much

Please apply to foster or adopt! Jude finished his training and doing so great! He was in a program for over 60 days and has proven to be ready for a foster or adoptive home. Trainers are able to give some sessions to show what he has learned! We would love to get him in a home soon. Jude is about 2 years old now, neutered, vacinated and chipped. He was rescued from the Avenal animal shelter, where he spent nine months in the shelter as a 6 month old puppy. The boredom and distress he experienced are unimaginable. Now that Jude has been out of the shelter, he has learned and adapted very well. He had a couple foster homes that did not work out for him. Since then, he has been with RFRD training and done very very well! You could see such wonderful results from the training program! He has been decompressed with food nearby and we know he could find a forever home now! We’ve seen promising progress at the training facility. He is now looking for a furever home or foster. He is located in San Jose ca and very dog friendly, he also comes with training, one on one sessions and would do best with older children if any. He is good with people and learned to be open to new surroundings. Jude Walks well on a leash, potty trained and would love to meet you! He is a tall handsome boy that just needed a chance. Please apply to meet Jude! Located San Jose caSeptember 2, 2025, 9:02 am

Story
Adopt Aura!! Aura is ready for a home! Aura is a special girl with no hind legs. She will need a special person who could give her what she needs. Aura can get around pretty fast despite not having back legs. She was first found in Modesto Ca. Where somebody had left her in a shed with no food or water. She then was so-called rescued and taken to the house of horrors in Arizona. Where she was also neglected and tortured amongst 54 or more other dogs. She then went to Arizona Humane Society where she awaited rescue again. She had no rescue backing and that is where she joined our pack. Her amazing foster mom had said yes to fostering and that was the best thing that has happened to Aura! Aura loves to be with her and then foster family. She is very affectionate when she wants to be but it took her a while to gain trust. She was spayed and also had some dental work done. The ortho surgeon took a look at her back legs at UC DAVIS. She barely has any metatarsals left on the left leg. She had prosthetics that are being made and should arrive soon! She does not like to sit in her wheelchair but foster mom was donated a very big Stroller. Where Aura likes to go for a stroll in. Aura might be around six years old or younger but because of the neglect it shows on her body. Aura is looking for a family that could let her be her. She has been through enough and we don’t want to force her to do anything. She takes time to trust but is very sweet. She is dog friendly but sometimes is picky. She gets along with most dogs but doesn’t like to share her attention that you are giving her but who would blame her. She likes her warm big bed and likes to eat. Aura would do best with a house with carpet where she can get around. Concrete does hurt her nubs and she would need booties or a wrap. Aura also likes to go potty on the grass where it’s soft for her to try and stand to go. She is mostly potty trained but because of her limbs she sometimes can go where it’s more comfortable. Aura would love a home of her own. To meet Miss Aura please apply with our adoption app!September 2, 2025, 9:02 am

Beautiful Wanda and her siblings were on Monday 12/8/25 shelter PTS list. She is only 9 mos old and social friendly. Yet SASA is euthanizing many friendly and healthy young dogs weekly due to capacity issues. Shelter is over-loaded daily by irresponsible owners that dump their dogs. Worse now during Holiday month when many are away on vacations. So the poor innocent dogs have less time at this shelter. Her brother was adopted last minute. Wanda had no options left so we tagged her to rescue her. Volunteers and staff adore her. She is super friendly dog friendly and smart. Needs basic training. She has mix of two very intelligent athletic and devolted brave breeds. Ready to learn and be your BFF for life. Loves toys knows sit for treats and is playful. Will play with her mouth but soft. Great hiking and walking buddy. Will probably enjoy any fun or working you both may like. Smart dog. We will emergency board her to save her life while we search for an experienced foster home. More info. to come. Update at her Foster Home: She is smart affectionate dog and people friendly. Loves to play ball go on walks & hikes lounging on sofa chair well behaved at home crate trained and very treat /food motivated. She is a sweetie. Everyone she meets always fall in love with her. Wanda is waiting for her forever loving and active forever home.
