Allen, neutered male, 1.5-y-o, 36-lbs If you would like to give ALLEN a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application With a pair of big eyes, on a seemingly oversized head — compared to his small and bony body, little Allen wandered alone around the orchard. He tried to keep out of sight from people, even when the volunteers were doling out food for him. Apparently, he was deeply haunted by multiple attacks in his short three months’ life. After Allen was rescued, his physical revealed that he was severely anemic. Under the loving tender care of his foster family, Allen slowly gained his trust toward people around him and started to play with other dogs in the household. Still, he’s not too comfortable being held by people, but great improvement has shown as time goes by. Allen is now a lively, playful and happy pup when around familiar environment. He is super mellow and well behaved by nature, only a little shy around strangers, especially toward men. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. He’ll be a great addition to family with dog! Story
Hello from Miss Zelda!Zelda (aka Zelle-Zelle, Zelly-Belly, or Zelle’s Bells) is a three year old Belgian Malinois who came to CalPaws from Stanislaus Shelter where she was red listed for euthanasia. After CalPaws tagged her  and Paws Network Transportation helped move Zelda to her foster in Northern Nevada, she was finally able to start decompressing from the stressful shelter environment and start the next chapter of her life.Zelda is an absolute love and does great with the other similarly sized dogs in her foster home. It is clear she has had at least one litter of puppies, but she is now spayed and ready to find her perfect home. She is also fantastic with the two children in the home aged 6 and 13, although her foster has definitely been working on her manners with her in terms of eating food that doesn’t belong to her. Zelda loves the other dogs but is very much driven by human attention and affection. She is extremely food motivated but does not seem to have any toy drive. This beautiful girl would do best in a home with children over age 5 and no small animals including small dogs or cats. Zelda has met the goats in her foster home through the fence, and has since made it her life’s mission to try to eat them. She has a definite prey drive, and did not test well with the other small animals on the foster farm. A home where she will receive lots of love and attention, along with continued training and socialization, is a must for this girl. Zelda is fully house broken and crate trained. If you think your home may be a good match for Zelda, please don’t hesitate to fill out an application at calpaws.org. She can’t wait to meet you! Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm and microchip each dog as well as spay or neuter. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Being a foster is such a rewarding experience. If you are interested please review https://www.calpaws.org/fostering   ##1866612##

Story
Hi Everyone My current financial and living situation, compounded by a recent split with my partner, has left me unable to care for my beloved pet. Blue, our 3-year-old Belgian Shepherd, is a wonderful and energetic companion whom I hold dear. He is dedicated, food-driven, and boasts the cutest white paws. He loves attention and care and he deserves every ounce of it. Blue's all about playtime fun! Tug of War? Total jam. And when he's home, get ready for some serious lick-and-kiss action – he's a pro at spreading the love! We are earnestly seeking any support in helping Blue find a more suitable and loving family.

These pups are in Fremont, California too!

Story
Luna has been at Stanislaus Animal Shelter since 7/20/23. Her time was up on 9/2/23 so we rescued her to save her life. Need foster home for precious Luna. She is a shelter volunteer favorite. They all love her. Very sweet loves to cuddle affectionate and friendly with all dogs and people. Knows sit. Kind nature about her. We have back up emergency boarding for her. Huge thanks to Kristie. Setting up long distance transport. Best if we can find her a foster home. Luna seems to be an easy and very sweet family GSD. https://www.facebook.com/groups/848040928655945/permalink/6339584986168151/ Donations towards her emergency boarding is very much needed and appreciated. 9/6/23 update: She is settling in nicely good eater and very affectionate. Fearless and has to check everything out. Learning how to ask for affection gently and how to not pull so much. Super fast on learning anything and is always watching you. She is very agile and light on her feet. Pretty girl with a lot of spunk. I have seen no dog reactivity have not tested with cats yet.February 22, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Lyle was on the SASA PTS list Sat. 5/13 at 4:30 pm so we tagged him to save his life. He was a shelter staff favorite. Now we need a foster home for him ASAP as he is in emergency boarding. Lyle is a super dog and is people friendly. He loves to play then calms - and he loves his pets. He does need some basic training but he seems easy to train and he's a pleaser. He already has learned to sit and wait for treats only gently taking the treat after the release command. Lyle is very pretty and unique with one blue eye. Donations are appreciated to help us pay for his emergency boarding until we find him a foster home.February 22, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Max (watch my video!) was at a distant overcrowded shelter for over a month when his time was up. He had no options left so we rescued him. All the volunteers adore him. Despite having no walks from his shelter kennel once out he is well behaved and great with other large dogs he met at the shelter and volunteers. He needs time to warm up and feel safe then cooperative loves treats and is lovable. Smart and gorgeous. Max did great during his transport car ride but once at a new place he was nervous and confused. Did take treats. Once he knows you he will be your best friend and bodyguard. Max will need an experienced guardian and a home with a yard. For now no kids. More info. to come as he relaxes and learns. 7/1/22: He is now doing great at his foster home with 2 other GSDs. With time he adjusted to new people at home. He is still leary of of strangers. Bonded to his foster mom. Loves his walks/hikes playing ball and relaxing at his foster home. 9/12/21: Sadly when his potential foster home and her 2 GSDs during their two meets her female GSD did not work out with him. The female is less tolerant of new dogs and wants to be the top dog. Max did great with her male dog and social. He loves treats snuggled being petted and enjoyed the attention. Need basic leash training. Poor Max will continue to board until we can find him an experienced foster home that will give him time to warm up and feel safe. Max is boarding until we can find him an experienced and dedicated foster home. Donations needed to help pay for his boarding. To date since 10/20/21 over $4000. 10/1/21: Our volunteers are visiting Max and taking him out for walks and play yard. Doing great and friendly with 2nd visit with female and male with yummy treats and turkey hot dogs. Max goes to male volunteer for hot dogs long walk and fine being petted. Max is a sweetie with people he knows and trust. Max would be a great hiking and home buddy.YouTube: https://youtu.be/veR-UfNMVfgFebruary 22, 2024, 2:03 pm
