Story
How this pet arrived: Lola Bunny was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on January 1, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Lola Bunny, a sweet soul who arrived as a stray and is currently on the mend from some injuries that she had when she came to us - for now, no long hikes or rough housing for this girl! While her past is a bit of a mystery, we know that she's a timid girl who takes time to adjust. She is already showing wonderful progress by allowing gentle scratches from her trusted humans, and she may even give you a little nudge if she isn't quite ready for the petting to stop. Lola has a gentle personality and is a huge fan of treats, which are the perfect way to win her heart! She is a sensitive girl who finds new environments a bit daunting, so she is looking for a quiet, cozy home, ideally with adults or older children (10+), where she can settle in at her own pace. She absolutely loves short, leisurely walks where she has plenty of time to stop and sniff everything along the way. As she continues to heal, we are hopeful that her full personality will truly begin to shine! If you're ready to see this girl blossom, Lola is ready to join your family! Just be sure to bring the whole family (dogs included) along for a meet-and-greet to ensure everyone gets along! Shy/Fearful Dog: Lola Bunny requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 52.8 Age: 1yrs 7mths 1wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Cherry Blossom was brought in by a Field Service Officer on January 2, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Cherry Blossom! Cherry Blossom is a delicate little flower just beginning to bloom. Like her namesake, she does best in calm, peaceful surroundings where she can open up in her own time. She loves her crate-it's her cozy "garden," a safe space where she can relax and feel secure. Cherry Blossom is happiest in a quiet home with minimal foot traffic and kids over 12 who understand how to be gentle. She's not ready for leash walks yet, so a yard is perfect for her potty needs while her confidence grows. She'll go home in her crate (please be sure your car can fit it!), and with patience, kindness, and a steady routine, this sweet blossom is sure to bloom into something truly special. Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 53.8 Age: 1yrs 1mths 0wks

How this pet arrived: Layla was brought in by a community member on January 5, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Layla! Layla is a beautiful German Shepherd looking for a calm, patient home where she can settle in at her own pace. She recently had a few masses removed and is healing very well, but she'll still appreciate a peaceful environment as she continues to recover. Layla may be a little reserved at first, so slow introductions to new people and environments will be important to help her feel secure. Providing her with a consistent routine, a safe space of her own, and plenty of positive reinforcement will allow her confidence to grow. With time, understanding, and gentle guidance, Layla has the potential to become a loyal and loving companion for the right family. If you're ready to learn more about Layla, come on in and adopt her today! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!
