Meet Argos — our newest arrival, and already a volunteer favorite. Argos was found on the streets of Puerto Rico and made his way to South Florida after his family realized they couldn’t keep him due to housing restrictions. Thanks to a community connection and a whole lot of teamwork, he’s now safe with us and ready to start his next chapter. Argos is about 11 months old, fully vetted (neuter coming soon!), and still settling into rescue life. Right now, his days are all about decompression, learning routines, and discovering that he’s finally somewhere he doesn’t have to worry anymore. Apollo is approximately 1 years old. An EMbark DNA test shows Apollo is Belgian Malinois/Dutch Shepherd/German Shepherd mix. Apollo is a goofy, total love bug with a good puppy energy level. He knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, and is normally neutral to other dogs. Apollo is a euthanasia survivor from Miami Dade Animal Services. #A2690586 arrived at the shelter as a stray and due to his size and energy level, he quickly made it on the euthanasia list. He was adopted into the wrong home that let him down after less than 24 hours and later rescued by a volunteer. Two months after being out of the shelter, Apollo decompressed from the stressful shelter environment. He bloomed into a well natured puppy that seeks affection and has a beautiful play style. A DNA test was done on this stunning boy that revealed a wonderful blend of working shepherd breeds: Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd and German Shepherd. Apollo does not react to other dogs but also does not actively engage to play with them. He prefers human interaction but can be introduced to other dogs and coexist peacefully as long as he has his space. He is crate and potty trained and likes the water. He still has puppy energy and would do better in a home where he is not alone for long periods of time. Apollo has been in board and training for over a month and needs to continue to bloom into an active and loving family. Apollo is available for meet and greets in South Florida and has been evaluated by 2 trainers who are available to provide feedback on his personality and potentials. Kiara lost her owner to cancer. He was a police officer and gave her to a friend that had to recently move to a single room and could not take her. He was so desperate to not find her someone to take her that one of our volunteers spotted him with her off a busy street w a sign he made where he wrote "Free". She has been in our care since her birthday where she had just turned 5yrs old. She is very smart, sweet, loves to play with her stress ball and does well with other bigger dogs. ❤️ Let's find this beauty a home with experience.

Hello, I'm Sampson. It's a delight to make your acquaintance. I hold the record for being the longest resident dog at Abandoned Pet Rescue. Spending almost six years in a shelter is quite a long time for a majestic 12-year-old German Shepherd like me. When I first arrived, I became protective of my kennel, and it takes me a while to trust new human friends. However, I have formed strong bonds with a few staff members and volunteers over the years who enjoy walking, training, and playing with me. I am in need of an experienced adopter who understands my quirks and protective, loyal nature, someone comfortable with my 100-pound size (that's a lot of charm!). I am seeking a soulmate in the South Florida area willing to invest time in getting to know me at the shelter before I transition to a new home. The shelter staff will demonstrate my leash-walking skills (I am even trained to wear a muzzle) and how quickly I pick up new tricks like speak, paw, and sit. I enjoy car rides and have recently discovered the delight of a Starbucks Puppuccino. My dream is to have a peaceful, calm home with a fenced yard and an abundance of squeaky toys (my favorite!). I am looking for a home without cats or kids, but I do enjoy the companionship of other dogs with a proper introduction.
