Story
Meet Maple!Maple is a sweet, senior Belgian Malinois, approximately 8 to 9 years old, with a gentle and sensitive soul. She can be very timid and shy around new people, likely due to a history of limited positive interactions with humans. Maple needs a calm, patient adopter who will allow her to move at her own pace and build trust on her terms. Once she feels safe, she enjoys peaceful walks and rolling in thick green grass.Unlike many Malinois, Maple is medium to low energy and prefers to keep to herself rather than engage in nonstop activity. She has been introduced to other dogs and does best with calm, respectful companions. She may correct overly pushy or high-energy dogs and can show mild leash or fence reactivity, but responds well to consistent verbal corrections. Maple would thrive with someone experienced with shepherd breeds and structured, consistent training. If introducing another dog, a meet-and-greet is recommended, though she is likely happiest as the only dog in the household.Maple has special needs - she is heartworm positive. Dogs with heartworm disease can live happy, high-quality lives with proper care. Heartworm positive dogs have just as much love and companionship to offer as any other dog and deserve a chance at a forever home! By adopting Maple, you are truly saving a life.Ask staff about the Stormie Rain Heartworm Fund and what assistance may be available to help with her heartworm treatment.Maple is ready to find a calm, loving home where she can feel safe, cared for, and truly cherished.ADOPTION PROCESS:Our adoption process is simple and straightforward.Start by completing our pre-screening application: https://tinyurl.com/adoptfromHSCCApplications are typically approved or declined the same day. Once approved and all parties agree, adoption fees are paid and the contract is signed. If the pet is not yet spayed/neutered or current on a rabies vaccine, they will not go home the same day. An appointment will be scheduled, and you’ll receive further instructions at that time.We hope this helps answer your questions!

Story
Meet Marino!Marino is a stunning 6-year-old Belgian Malinois who thrives with structure, consistency, and an experienced handler. She would do best with someone who has shepherd experience or knowledge of the Belgian Malinois breed. Marino is strong on walks and responds well to consistent management and training.Marino enjoys an active lifestyle and would do best in a home with a set routine and a backyard—she is not suited for apartment living. She loves interactive games like fetch and tug-of-war, and needs outlets for both physical activity and mental stimulation. She’s highly food-motivated, learns quickly, and already knows some basic commands. While Marino has been introduced to other submissive dogs, she can be pushy and dominant, so a meet-and-greet is recommended if there is another dog in the home. She is likely best as the only dog in a household. Marino also has a high prey drive and is not recommended for homes with cats or livestock.Marino bonds quickly and deeply with her owner and enjoys affection and being close. She is also a fun, adventurous companion for someone interested in a “weekend warrior” dog—perfect for hiking, traveling, or even trying dog sports. With the right home—structured, active, and experienced—Marino will be a loyal, loving, and engaging partner for all of life’s adventures.ADOPTION PROCESS:Our adoption process is simple and straightforward.Start by completing our pre-screening application: https://tinyurl.com/adoptfromHSCCApplications are typically approved or declined the same day. ADOPTION PENDING - no longer taking applications! Miss Shellie - quite a sweet furbaby! She just loves being hugged and petted by little kids & really by everybody. So curious - even chased a few ducks to watch them run! Silly girl. Great around other dogs, new dogs, just hasn't met any cats yet. At less than 10#, she is full of black wavy hair. She has a spot of white on her chest. She is still growing, getting cuter daily! Her mama was a small size German Shepard - daddy is unknown. Based on her hair and color - her ears sometimes stand up tall like a Shepard - but she is still tiny. Maybe once she's full grown other features. For now this cutie loves to investigate in the yard. Shellie loves to be hugged and pampered, but after she has worn herself out playing! A fenced in yard is ideal since she doesn't know where her sniffer will lead her. Microchipped and available to grow with you in her furever home! So put in your application for Ms, Shellie - this cutie would love her own family ! Not quite potty trained, but has already learned to walk nicely on a leash - she is a fast learner. ADOPTION PENDING - do not apply

Story
My name is Opal - I am 4 months old & a quick learner ! I love running and treats. I am almost leashed trained - given the right guidance potty training would be a breeze. If you live near ARF of Wayne County, GA, maybe you would foster me until my furever family finds me? Her favorite trick is to pretend she's Houdini - tries to escape her harness during learning lessons without you noticing - she is clever ! Opal would love to be a running partner with you. Hard to tell at 4 months exactly my mix, but my mama is a smaller size German Shepard mix, my daddy, unknown probably a heeler ! But with more growing to be done its hard right now to be sure. Opal has 1 blue eye that sparkles. I am well behaved around toddlers, and adults. Teenagers that smother me with hugs and kisses are my favorite. I have several puppy sisters, and big dogs, but so far there no cats where I live. So Opal has been spayed, very ready to go to her furever home to be a part of your furever family. She just needs a chance for a real furever home - she is ready and willing to learn the basics. !

Story
My name is Cash - I'm 4 months old - I look taller than I am. I would love a new foster - so I can learn potty training. I am getting alittle better on a leash, still kina new to me. My mama was a smaller German Shepard - my daddy is unclear. I need to grow more to see if I resemble a heeler. The vet said at my young age is it hard to tell my other features. My foster family has toddlers, teenagers, and adults. Plenty of dogs and other puppies also. I never encountered a cat - so not sure if I like them. Cash has black fur is highlighted with a touch of white. I am ready to be adopted! I'm curious and full of love and be given kisses. I love snacks ! Adopt me now and lets make memories together!
