Story
Meet Opie!! Meet Opie! He was an owner who surrendered to a local shelter and needed rescue only because the stress of the shelter got to him. Opie is 4 yrs-old GS Malinois Dutch shepherd mix. Sadly he's lived a very confined neglected isolated sheltered life. In other words, he had lazy 💩 owners. As of 11/4, Opie is a sweet, gentle giant but reserved and timid. We have learned that allowing him to approach you on his time is best. 12/22 He loves his people once his trust is gained. Which takes 0 time and effort on the human part. 2/10 Everyone he has meets he has done awesome with. He is willing to try but does needs encouragement. He strives for guidance and needs consistency, routine, and simple daily exercise as well as structured discipline. He is a simple dog always wanting to please. But his confidence cannot be rushed instead when meeting any new folks he needs people to ignore him as if he's not present, do not approach, touch, talk to him or make eye contact and this alone makes meeting anyone easy and possible. 2/17 Opie thrives with companionship and desires physical and verbal acknowledgment from his people. He wants to belong and be part of his people every day life. No reactivity toward cats, or dogs, nor does he have any resource-guarding behaviors. He however is a follower and he needs constant guidance. Opie is good on a leash, still needs work but it's manageable. Very food and praise/affection motivated. 1/22 Opie is currently ongoing heartworm treatment and doing well. Opie is a dog that requires more than basic dog knowledge. He needs leadership and guidance and someone confident and in control at all times. To be continued: Opie is house and crate trained, neuteted, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, corona, 3-year rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Opie like every AHS dog comes with our lifetime support. Updated: 2/26/2023 We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets. Story
Bane is a beautiful 3 year old GSD. He's lovable with adults and teens. He needs a fenced backyard, not that he's a runner but I have issues with deer, dogs and cats which he will go for. At 110lbs he's strong and it takes someone strong enough to hold him if there's no fence. I love him dearly but have a bad back thats getting worse and to be a responsible pet owner I have to find him an approved handler. He does know basic commands. He comes with an xl indoor kennel and muzzel for taking him out. I live in an apartment so no fence. He has Comfrt sweat shirts so you can order matching human ones. I would really like to find him a good home soon. Contact me anytime.

Story
Bones is a Courtesy Listing and is not housed at the Animal Shelter. Please note that the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control accepts no responsibility for this pet. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian. Bones is in a home with a loving, caring family that has no cats and a fenced in yard. This dog, preferably, would do better in a single or two adult household, but he does get along with children well. He is completely housebroken. He gets along great with a female dog, not male dogs and NO cats. Bones loves human interaction and likes being around people, he has high anxiety issues and doesn't like being alone. The property management of where I live doesn't allow large dogs this size.If you are interested in Bones, PLEASE EMAIL: crw3077@yahoo.com. **PLEASE CONTACT OWNER DIRECTLY***

Leia & Stella are Courtesy Listings and are not housed at the Animal Shelter. Please note that the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control accepts no responsibility for these pets. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian.Leia & Stella are both social. They are good girls and a bonded pair. They like people but do best with a gradual warmup. They are a little too energetic with kids but can be trained. They do well with other animals as long as there is an expectation set and gradual warmup. They do well with indoor cats but if they see any outside they react to them as if they are prey. Leia loves to play Fetch and carry logs around. Stella is really doting on the inside cats to the point of grooming them.If you would like to inquire into adopting this pet, PLEASE TEXT or CALL 564-205-0486***Please contact the owner directly***
