Story
Meet Oscar!
Just entering his senior years at 7-8 years old. He is a Shepherd mix and weighs in at 79#.
He came in with another dog as a stray and neither were reclaimed.
Oscar is a sweet guy! He can be just a bit shy at first meeting, with low grumbles that he is uncomfortable, but has not given the staff at FCAC any issues at all!
Like most older dogs, he is a bit slower to get around sometimes and would benefit greatly from a daily a joint supplement! We reommend this for the remainder of his years, to help keep him comfortable! He has some normal lumps and bumps, that come with being a dog his age. A relationship with a vet is strongly encouraged, in case anything arises and to help keep Oscar feeling great for his golden years!!
Our vet has recommended he be kept on a Salmon or Fish based diet, as he seems to have allergies going on. She suspects both food sensitivity and environmental allergies, and he may also benefit from taking a daily allergy tablet or getting monthly or bimonthly allergy injections, if flare ups arise.
We have not tested him with kitties, and expect he will be fine with resepctful kids!
Oscar came in with a female dog, so we know he has been with aother dogs before in his past! A meet and greet is required here at FCAC if any other dogs are in the potential adopters home!
Neutered, microchipped, Heartworm Negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adoption fee is $80
Oscar did tet positive for Lyme Disease, but has been given a Lyme Vaccine and started on a course of Doxycycline for treatment. It is highly reommended he receive a Lyme Vaccine yearly and stay on tick/flea prevention year round!
